Scarey start but it was easy

I've had excellent help in the past but this year was our first year with 1099-DIV and I was very anxious about my ability to do it correctly. Turbo Tax walked me through it and I felt very safe with how I handled everything.
What's great about it: easy

a charge was asked for on a state e-file. so we decide to mail in the state tax

Always difficult!

At the end I could not send my Idaho State taxes because of a W-2 issue. I put zeros in the block when I should have put nothing in the block. I had to call to get help. But I did get help, thank you.
What's great about it: Electronic filing
What's not so great: State guidance and IRA guidance

Helped me when I really needed it!

Virginia has a filing status called Couples filing separately on a joint return that was always the largest return when I filed by paper and in the early years of filing on a computer. A couple of years ago TurboTax dropped that filing status (4) and I wish you would bring it back.
What's great about it: Comparison with what you did last year to make sure you don't forget anything
What's not so great: Needs to allow users to choose from all filing options on state taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Satisfactory product

Intuit opted to take out funcitonality from their products forcing users to purchase a higher level (i.e., more expensive) product to accomplish the same return that could have been done with a less expensive product last year. Explanations for this change by Intiuit customer service reps were mediocre at best. It seems to be an attempt to increase revenue without actually having to raise the price of the individual products. After many years, it's probably time for a change.
What's great about it: Product consistent from year to year. Makes for relatively easy tax filing once you've figured out the quirks
What's not so great: Pricey
