Makes life easy

Have used Turbo Tax for several years. Have not had any problems with filing, and feel returns have been correct and refunds fair.
What's great about it: Thorough and easy to follow
What's not so great: Not all financial institutions allow downloading of statements

VT return is terrible; NOT saving to Intuit.com

I have used TT for 8 year and was satisfied in previous years, but I will never use TT again if Intuit does not give users the option of saving tax returns on their own computer instead of being forced to sign into Intuit.com and saving returns to the Cloud. I do not want my tax returns on Intuit's servers. I am fully capable of password protecting my files and saving/ storing it on my own computer. I don't trust Intuit's server to be secure.
The Vermont Tax return doesn't load properly and the questions are confusing. If you have to change an answer later there's no way to go directly to that question or page - you have to start all over and go through every question again. If you change an answer (because the question was confusing to begin with), it still shows up incorrectly in the worksheets, forcing users to make corrections manually in the Forms view.
What's great about it: Pulled in 2013 data
What's not so great: Should NOT be forced to save returns to intuit.com, VT State return is confusing and cumbersome

Efficient tax program

Never had a problem using Turbo tax the last 3 years. This year I did find that if you misspell the name of a charity you can't edit the name. You have to delete it and reenter. This should be fixed. I always pick the auto mode and go through every section which takes a little longer but I know nothing gets missed. I took my return to a CPA this year to double check the results and there were no errors and no changes needed. I like some of the import functions in the income section which saved a lot of typing. It does a nice job printing out all the forms you need and makes e filing fed and state returns painless, unless you owe. I will be purchasing Turbo Tax Premiere next year to file those taxes.
What's great about it: You have the choice to let it walk you throug all sections or you can just pick the ones you need to fill out manually.
What's not so great: Takes a long time to load if you have the minimum computer requirements. When updates download you have to reregister.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy does it!

Turbo Tax is easy to use and it is able to handle a lot of complex situations easily. I use it every year and it transfers carryover information that I might need in the following year.
What's great about it: Very easy to follow the step by step process.
What's not so great: Can't think of any.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good Comprehensive Product

Like the product overall. Help was available in most cases, and even able to ask questions. Just need to be careful on some of the responses. Wrong forms were referenced but they did correct the information in their answer.
My one complaint was my K-1 data could not be entered on a single K-1, even though I only had one. Turbo Tax does not allow a box 1 and 3 data on the same K-1. There should be a manual override to allow this condition, since that is how my K-1 was issued. The program can warn that this is not the usual situation, but allow it to be entered. Let the company issuing the K-1 deal with fixing it, not the user.
