2014 - A big step down in usability

What happened with the 2014 version? There seems to be several degradations in usability. A key aggravation is in the Review section. It will tell you there is something wrong - but doesn't give you a link to the section to go back and fix it. You have to research where to find that section yourself. In addition, the Review tells you it is not allowed to use "Various" as the date of charity contributions, but the Interview instructs to do just that!

Great Product

I have used Turbo Tax since 2002 for preparing my taxes. The best feature is the link to financial institutions to download my investment data automatically. This has saved me hours of preparation and typing in the information. I also know the forms have been filled out correctly. The e-filing is also very nice. My refunds are quick and go directly into my bank. It only took me about 4 hours to pull my tax info together, walk through the tax software, and file my taxes. Doesn't get any easier than that.
What's great about it: Easy to Use, information on each topic available
What's not so great: None

I file Joint married return and in the past I was able to mark each entry as to whether it was a single transaction for my husband or me or both on all the 1099 forms and this yr it only asked on the 1099 div and int forms and not on the other forms which I did not like. I know it didn't make a diff on the taxes but if for some reason we want to amend and file separetly now things are not marked as to who had what in some sections.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Made changes to 1099B forms

Disappointed Again

I have been too loyal to TurboTax. Every year I have problems with stock transactions. This year was worse than previous ones. Also every year the software slows to a crawl after stock transactions are imported. I also encounter annual issues saving the files or losing transactions I have already entered. Probably the last time I use TT.
What's great about it: Step by step process is simple to follow
What's not so great: Errors on stock transactions caused manual form by form review

Version control

Overall, we really like Turbo Tax, have been using it for many years, but having to change versions was not one of the best moves we had this year.
What's great about it: it was nice of you to improve the organization of your products.
What's not so great: Not so nice to have to change versions in mid stream when you moved investments.

Slightly buggy software

The reason I am not giving this year's TurboTax a better review is this: when I changed my filing status from "Married filing jointly" to "Single" to see what the difference would be, the program deleted my wife's personal info and I had to re-enter it when it came time to go through the "Health Insurance" portion.
What's great about it: Nice interface
What's not so great: Loss of some info if you experiment with filing status

Great - Except

My pros and cons say it all. I sure wish i could so my city taxes here. I have tried 3 years in a row and Turbo Tax always has me owing money and on the Taxing Authority website I owe nothing. Hmmm Please make it easier!
What's great about it: It seems to handle my Federal and State returns well.
What's not so great: It stinks at my local returns. The 'instructions' are to convaluted. Easier at the taxing authority's web site.
