A tough tax year

Worked flawlessly for the twelfth consecutive year. Made reporting signing bonus and payout from previous qualified stock plan a breeze.
What's great about it: Easily handled signing bonus and qualified stock plan payout
What's not so great: Ended up with a large AMP liabilty which was accurately calculated
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy as usual...

Have filed with Turbo Tax for several years. Was not able to transfer 2013 data to 2014 prep, so had to enter data manually from saved/printed returns. All good, but it took too much time. User error?
What's great about it: Simple and direct and fast.
What's not so great: 2013 Turbo Tax filing did not transfer to 2014 prep.

My refund was find but we still have concerns...

potential bug. When filing I was on the login screen, I failed to log in (because I forgot my password), so I left the login screen up overnight forgetting that the session would expire. When i came back I had to "force quit" turbo tax to break out of the pop up screen (even though I could now login). There seems to be a general consensus on concern that i can use my tax deductible for interest on a property on rentals abroad, alleviating this concern would be great (everything looks good when filling in). Thanks Everything else was cool.
What's great about it: Liked turbo tax, reasonably easy to follow
What's not so great: My tax submission was affected by the fact that you separated out property income from the deluxe version....

NOT USER FRIENDLY

IVE USED TT FOR YEARS AND THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN YEARS OF DOING MY TAXES, LOADING THE PROGRAM BECAUSE I HAD TO UP GRADE MY COMPUTER, PROGRAM FROZE, ICONS DIDN'T WORK, PRINTING WAS COMPLEX, TRYING TO USE DVD TO FILE ANOTHER PERSON IN MY HOUSEHOLD WAS TOO DIFFICULT.
What's great about it: COVERS EVERYTHING
What's not so great: NOT USER FRIENDLY IN PRINTING, SAVING, USING DVD, ETC.

The Only Hard Part is Sitting Down to Do It

I have used TurboTax every year for almost 10 years, and every year it is updated and made easier to use. As my financial situation became more complex with the addition of stock investments, real estate rentals, distributions from more than one retirement account, and so on, TurboTax helped me keep up with everything. I don't think I could manage at tax time without the TurboTax software.
What's great about it: Clarity of questions; arrangement of categories; Help
What's not so great: Some specific items are still still a bit vague, so thanks for Help
Pros: I bought or sold investments

- had a daughter drop from my dependents, but her information showed up in another daughter's 1099-Q even though the step-by-step was correct - a definite bug!
- having to pay extra for Premier reduces the value. if I don't get a refund for the extra cost this year, I won't be using TT for 2015.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: had to pay for premier when deluxe worked before; 1099-Q step-by-step form did not fill out the actual form correctly

Refund Reward

The ease and success I have had for the many years using Turbo Tax has been a big money saver from when I previously used a tax accountant. Having the confidence to successfully complete my own taxes is a great feeling when I hear what my friends and co-workers pay an accountant because they fear they may not get good results doing taxes on their own.
What's great about it: The questions prompting responses are well detailed
What's not so great: Did not like that I had to upgrade to TurboTax Premier from Deluxe
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TTax deluxe review
on March 9, 2015

I have used TurboTax for years and find it intuitive, helpful with tips and notes. It has made filing taxes a simple task where before it was a chore I didn't look forward to. The only thing that I would like to see changed is the way you navigate through the sections. Its fine when you go through every section automatically but as you get used to using the program, it is sometimes easier to skip around as information comes in. It would be nice if section by section it would flag what is complete rather than just having the button to visit a section or update a section. Would like to be able to check a box saying I am done with this section and having that reflected on the navigation page.
What's great about it: Uses my info from last year, like being able to import from its deductible, easy to use as always
What's not so great: Didn't like the need to upgrade due to changes but that was remedied by the refund
