Takes the headache out of tax preparation and submission of all necessary forms. Saved me many hours of time and takes the guess work out of process.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

IRS Tax Prepartion Software

My wife and I have been married for over 40 years and this is the first time our filing is rejected. The reason given is the last name and social security number of the second filer do not match. My wife's last name and social security number has been the same since we started using TurboTax many years ago. It seems Turbo Tax should have a way to challenge the IRS on these types of "errors".
We are doomed to file by normal mail.
What's great about it: Well laid out guide
What's not so great: rejection of electronic filing by the IRS.

Problem Encountered

While filling out my Turbo Tax 2014 federal return i clicked on a blue explanation link next to the entry field I was at. It did not give an explanation screen for the item I was working. Instead, it launched a new Screen for Turbo Tax for the year 2010 and starting downloading updates for the Turbo Tax 2010 screen. I quit the Turbo Tax 2010 screen and continued with the Turbo Tax 2014 screen. It appeared to operate correctly for a while until I again asked for an explanation of another entry field later on. The same senario began again. Everything else seemed to operate correctly and I filed the return avoiding any more asking for explanation fields. Some thing needs to be fixed!

Does a great job of Federal. Could be better with State issues, at least in Colorado.
What's great about it: Rental Properties, Investments
What's not so great: Doesn't deal with Mineral Royalties
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The only way that I saw to get an answer without a charge was to put my e-mail address out into the "Community." Does anyone REALLY want to do this?
There was a question as to how certain non-taxable income was being posted. The forms are not shown until the return is complete. Yes, there is a link at the upper right, but who really sees this without seriously searching the screen?
Why is it necessary to scroll down the entire list of completed items before getting to the next step on the return? Can't Intuit figure out how to bring us back to where we left off instead of where we started?
What's great about it: It gets the job done.
What's not so great: Difficult to get an answer and see the return in progress.

Found the product easy to use. Been using it since 2000. Completed federal and state forms without duplicate entries.
My only gripe is the way the product was downsized forcing users to buy a premium package. Providing a refund and a free upgrade was fine but, it did tarnish Intuits reputation.
What's great about it: Importing of personal and financial data from prior returns. Saved a lot of typing
What's not so great: Some areas are not clear as to the data required
Pros: I bought or sold investments
