We had royalties on this return. I plugged in the info but it kept trying to make it a "sole Proprietorship"! I had to completely come out of the return and go back in the next day. That was frustrating. Otherwise, it was pretty easy.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: Trouble with Royalties

I was a little confused at first about whether my small royalties were a business or an investment. I made the wrong chioce (later changed it), and a message told me that I needed Home and Business (for Sch C) instead of the Premier package I bought.
What's great about it: Easy overall
What's not so great: Just a little confusing

Turbo Tax was very easy to use. I love that it includes a free state program, but did not like that an additional state program was additional.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: $ for additional state program
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I like Turbotax because it carries over information from last year saving a lot of data entry. I find it easy to navigate and always accurate. After using it for 25 years, I would not trust another product.
What's great about it: Consistent and easy to use
What's not so great: Schedule D should be in Deluxe version. State e-file should be free.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and love it. It is easy to navigate no matter how difficult your taxes might be. Why pay an outsider to do it when you can do it yourself. TT has all the answers if you have questions or needed additional fact based data. All you need to do is keep good records throughout the year and you should do that anyway. I hate paying more than my fair share of taxes. I hate even more having to pay a tax preparing service hundreds of dollars to do what Turbo Tax can for the little cost of the software. Don't know why everyone doesn't use Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Easy walk through instructions for each and every step no matter how complicated the return.
What's not so great: If you don't save or print your return, you can't find it or review it the following year.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
