Purchased TurboTax Delux, with State, as I have done for years. Got free upgrade to Professional for free, but no state. Had to buy state Not very happy.

2014 Tax File

While navigating the filing process, all went as expected after using Turbo Tax for a number of years. This year I had difficulty with the e-filing process. I kept getting notification that the program could not access the internet to file. Finally, a pop-up appeared indicating I needed to call your toll free number for assistance. After giving you my credit card information to pay for the state filing fee, the doors opened and the return was filed immediately. It seems the information could have been asked for in the guidance process, saving me having to call to complete the filing.
What's great about it: Excellent guiding throughout
What's not so great: Difficulty activating e-file process

Have used Turbo tax for a long time and recommend it highly.
What's not so great: Did not get prompted to apply refund to next year estimated taxes.

I as most other bought deluxe expecting it to cover capital gains, etc as it had in the past. I researched this and found that if I contacted Turbo Tax they would upgrade me for free. Witch they did. Other that that good experience
What's great about it: same format year to year, I am used to it. Downloaded Brokerage data.
What's not so great: wrong product at first

Tax Prep for the Elderly

It's impossible to make questions that cannot be misunderstood, however Turbo Tax lets you go "back" and "back" again and you can try another answer and often find yourself where you expected to be. This ability to work until confused or uncomfortable, then exit and come back another day and try a different tack if it seems necessary, is the source of my greatest enthusiasm. The ability to pace oneself grows more important with age.
However, I do comment that the Capital Gains shown on my 1099-R, Box 3, for a Charitable Gift Annuity did not show up in my capital gains total, Form 1040 line 13.
What's great about it: My finances are quite complex, and I loved the ability to go as far as I could handle and exit and come back another day
What's not so great: I think the capital gains portion of a Charitable Gift Annuity is not handled correctly.

Not bad after upgrade

Need for upgrade should have been more clearly communicated, waiving upgrade fee this year will be warning for next year.
