2014 turbo tax ver review

Last years version seemed a little more refined, flowed better I think.
What's great about it: simple step by step walk thru
What's not so great: seemed to skip thru items it took me thru last year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Not Bad!

Intuit programmers need to contact option traders (like myself) to help with the software. I spend too much time with TurboTax and Quicken changing download data on options..
What's great about it: Very easy and quick
What's not so great: The programmers at Intuit do not understand Stock options problems in Turbo Tax and Quicken when downloading options
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It didn't stop me where I expected. Didn't ask whether I still bank accounts or deductions that were filed in previous year but not this year
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Satisfactory Software

On Schedule K-1, I had entries on lines 1 & 3, Software told me to make two separate K-1 submissions; 1 for line 1 & 1 for line 3. It didn't tell me how to separate all subsequent line entries as to what went with line 1 input and what went with line 3 input. It simply said to follow instructions on K-1 document as received. The instructions on the K-1 said it was a "very difficult process and to consult a tax consultant. Right, after already paying for software. Also problems with state software. Filing jointly on the same form and TT asks me to distribute simple interest, as reported on federal forms, between spouse & myself. Software left the first two line blank and provided the breakdown on lines 3 & 4 as I'd reported on federal input. I tried to simply accept it and continue, but the software insisted something be in lines 1 & 2. I finally had to make the entries on lines 1 & 2 the same as the TT offered on lines 3 & 4 & then deleted lines 3 & 4; very cumbersome. then, also on the state, TT failed to ask how to distribute insurance costs between spouse and myself. For spouse, it only included what was reported on line 5 of 1099-R. Even though I reported that total cost included medicare costs, TT failed to ask if a portion was spouse's medicare. Balance was all included on my input.
What's great about it: Most questions/answers are pretty straight forward, especially if you've used TT for several years.
What's not so great: Schedule K-1 entries and minor problems with State software.

Used turbotax for many years and satisfied with the program and the It's Deductible product. I had some difficulty importing from ID into TT, and instructions were somewhat unclear as to whether I could move to ID from within TT or had to go to the ID website. I ended up going to the ID website and could not get the info imported into TT, but was not a problem, as I had all of the totals. Maybe could improve that transition to make it more seamless.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Interface with It's Deductible

You having deleted my answers forcing me to enter things twice or more was a real problem. Should it happen again in the future, I would have to consider switching to one of your competitors after all these years with you. Oh yes I did save frequently. It is quite normal to ask about saving just to be sure.
What's great about it: fairly smooth till completed
What's not so great: deleting my answers. I'll do my own deleting
