Great Initial Experience

Good experience. I like the way you walked me through everything to make sure that I didn't overlook anything.
What's great about it: Thank you turbo tax for taking the administrative pain out of filing my taxes!
What's not so great: Took a bit longer the first time around.

I appreciate the excellent capabilities of this tax program and will continue to use it in future years.

Consistently good

Turbo Tax has consistently been a good tax preparation program. This year with the deluxe version not offering the schedule D and we had to spend over an hour on the phone getting the free upgrade to premier. It seems as if Intuit was trying to not have to give everyone the free upgrade automatically. I am sure that the price for the software will increase next year and I will be looking for an alternative soft ware tax package if that is the case.
What's great about it: easy to walk through
What's not so great: delux version did not originally include schedule D

Necessary Pain

Taxes are a pain. No matter how much we pay the govt always wants more. Turbo tax helped minimize the pain, notice I did not say eliminate. I've used the program for years and have never had a problem. I hope that this trend continues.
What's great about it: Software answered the majority of my questions
What's not so great: I had to guess a couple of times

Easier than filing on paper but needs work

Very frustrating that Easy Step doesn't start up right where you left off -- forcing you through questions you've already answered even though they're now filled out.
Very unhappy with the need to upgrade for Sch D filing. Didn't need this before, and will search for other software rather than pay for upgrade in future.
Forms list seems random. Why aren't the forms alphabetized? They're searchable, but this wouldn't be necessary if there was an obvious ordering.
Stumbled on several bugs while using the program. I think they were all innocuous, but it's worrisome none-the-less. For example, since I couldn't efile my state, I couldn't make my return error free unless I chose not to efile at all.
What's great about it: Multi-state filing is much easier using the program
What's not so great: Frustrating that it makes you repeat, buggy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Excellent Program

Overall this is an excellent program. I've been using TurboTax for several years. I have rental properties, and have foreign bank accounts and assets. The program handles all these with ease.
The federal return is easy to fill out, and provides lots of help. All calculations are done by the program.
The CA state return is a little harder to fill out. There are many questions and calculations that the program does not answer or do for you.
What's great about it: Excellent federal return
What's not so great: CA state return needs some improvement
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

It all worked out but it would have been nice to see the fact that I wouldn't have to re-do my business stuff if I upgraded to premier (which I had to do to enter my K1s). I was scared to do it but finally just said "what the heck" and did. It worked out, didn't have to re-do my business forms and could just enter my K1s.
What's great about it: Got it done in less than 2 days - business and personal
What's not so great: entering business K1's different for deluxe so had to upgrade
