You got Greedy

You didn't give me the forms I needed! I have been a faithful customer for many years. You keep charging more each year (I can live with that) and then you charge to file the state ( I can even live with that) BUT TO NOT GIVE ME THE FORMS I REQUIRE AND INTEND TO CHARGE ME FOR THEM! IT MAY BE TIME TO CALL H&R BLOCK. YOU BACK PEDALED AND PROVIDED THE FORMS AFTER A CONSUMER UPROAR. YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT MORE THOUGHT INTO THIS CALL!
A DISAPPOINTED FAITHFUL CUSTOMER
PS HAD TO GO THROUGH 8 NICKNAMES - WHAT GIVES?
What's great about it: The forms pretty much work like they do year after year.
What's not so great: had to upgrade O/S system again to run the application

Works well

I've used TT for years, and find it much better than any alternatives. Once all the docs are collected, it's pretty easy.
What's great about it: Accurate, generally easy
What's not so great: For Az state, it would decided that entering a zero was different than leaving a field blank.

Sched E -- lacks % change for depreciation
on March 7, 2015
Posted by: Pi31415
This version doesn't change the depreciation schedule to match your % of ownership in rentals, if it changes. If you are married and divorce, and retain 50% ownership -- the forms will calculate 50% of expenses if you enter 100% -- the depreciation is a different matter!!!!! You need to go in and alter everything, so going forward the amounts of asset value, depreciation, accumulated, etc require you override every line and cell, including totals to get the correct amount. RIDICULOUS! All they need to do is add the ability to enter the % of retainage of the beginning asset value and accumulated depreciation, with a notation to the changes it was due to an exclusion %, and the reason -- such as divorce...
What's great about it: Not anymore -- product lacking in Sched E/Sched D
What's not so great: Not worth the $$ just for a partial working Sched E/depreciation

15 years and counting
on March 7, 2015

I have been using Turbo Tax for personal and Business (S-Corp) for more than 15 years and the process get better every year. The IRS continues changing rules and, so far, Turbo Tax has kept me out of the woods.
The switch from Step-by-Step and Forms was seamless and helps enormously when a question about where a deduction or income is being placed.
What's great about it: No software issues
What's not so great: Schedule-A deductions Step-by-Step was somewhat confusing.

Solid product for a good price, with a few caveats
on March 7, 2015
Posted by: OrderedChaos
We spent just as much time last year working with a professional accountant, for approximately the same refund amounts — yet TurboTax cost roughly 10% of what the accountant cost.
The only glitch we had with TT was that, after an automatic update installation, the data we'd entered disappeared. That should probably cost them -2 stars instead of just the one-star ding on this review, but it only took us a half an hour to reenter what we'd done so far, so it wasn't *too* painful.
Overall I definitely recommend this product.
What's great about it: Help/Search; Overall Process
What's not so great: Data disappeared

recommend this product. I asked a CPA to review my turbotax return and he said to keep using it. That's good enough for me.
What's great about it: very detailed.
What's not so great: can't think of any
