This was first time ever (15 years use) that I experienced any frustration on items being asked. Two areas: Income/Loss recapture provided an obscure %....I didn't understand where the numbers were coming from, nor how to correct....after asking question in the inquiry area, I figured out the proper entry. The other area dealt with capital gains, of which I had none. The "work around" feature proved very useful, once I figured out how to access the workaround in capital gains. I didn't expect either of these obstacles, since never before had I experienced any "figuring out" procedures.
What's great about it: quick, accurate, self explantory.
What's not so great: The "glitch" I experience with capital gains....I didn't have capital gains..little frustrating.

I was disappointed that I had to upgrade to Turbo Tax Premier as I had Investment Income. I was always able to use Basic in the past. It looks like another way to make money.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and have always been pleased with the results for filing federal and state taxes. With the correct information I have never had a question from IRS or from the state revenue regarding our returns.
What's great about it: Thoroughness of questions
What's not so great: Continued pressure for audit support

Couldn't have done them without TurboTax

Turbo Tax makes a very difficult job very easy. I can download all of my income tax forms right from my investment company's web site, right into the income tax program, which saves me hours of work. This also eliminates the possibility of mathematical and other information mistakes on my part. Because of the complexity of my income taxes, I would not be able to do them without Turbo Tax. It saves me many hours work and hundreds of dollars each time I file.
What's great about it: It cuts so many corners for me that it saves me many hours of work
What's not so great: Non that I can think of.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Software makes it easy

I purchased the PREMIER Turbo tax because I had sold some of my stock that I had been given years ago as a gift from my father. Unfortunately he has since passed away and my 1099B form showed no cost basis. I used the DELUXE Turbo tax last year and had trouble with this same subject. I thought by purchasing the premier edition my nightmare would be over. Unfortunately I could have done the same with the DELUXE as that of the PREMIER edition. Had to research the cost basis from my statements from computershare. Otherwise the software is easy to follow.
What's great about it: Explains a lot, covers all topics, "help" is good
What's not so great: I still had to do a lot of research especially with cost basis
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Turbo-Tax should put in a way to clarify entries for K-1 forms vs 1099-B entries for the same thing. For instance, a checkoff on the K-1 to indicate the information is contained on the 1099-B form for the sale (on the worksheet for sales). This will eliminate the problem of double taxation. Also, it would be nice to have a program on Turbo-Tax for calculating the adjusted cost value, from the values given by the Limited Partner .
What's great about it: Very easy to follow, except for K-1 form.
What's not so great: When selling Limited Partnerships, very difficult to follow.
