I wanted to have a portion of the refund applied to the next year's estimated taxes, but did not find a field that permitted it rather than to have the entire refund sent to me. Maybe I just missed it.
What's great about it: Detailed and complete
What's not so great: Could not find how to have refund sent.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Great refund

I have tried several of these and this one is by far the easist to ruse. Walks you step by step though the process.
One other thing is that i compared some others at the same time and Turbo tax had the highest return.
The only thing that do not like is having to constantly put in my password to save, open or edit. Real pain.

I have been using Turbo Tax for many, many years. Each year it always gets progressively better. However, the Filing and Printing sections are always a little confusing. It would be helpful if you had boxes to check off for e-filing of Federal, State, printing Federal, State. Each box would generate a separate operation. I e-file my Federal but mail my State. It would be much simpler if everything was a separate operation.

Not always reliable
What's great about it: Good tips
What's not so great: Did not have all forms needed without buying the more expensive version.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great Tool For a Dreaded Task

I found TurboTax this year to be the same product I have come to expect from Intuit over the years. I've used this product for many years and have never been disappointed.
What's great about it: Thorough and easy to use
What's not so great: Review of the return at the end produced errors inn documents that it was not clear how to fix.

Great Program

I have always liked TurboTax. I have used it for years and find it very helpful by the way it walks you through each step and brings last years information forward. I was a little concerned this year when the problems and changes came out but appreciate that you upgraded automatically.
What's great about it: Very helpful with questions asked to make sure you have everything and I love having last years information

changes for the worse

I have been very happy with Turbo Tax for many years. I could tranfer the proir year information and just enter the new numbers and I was done. This year, it required two upgrades for extra money to do exactly what I could do in all past years with Basic. And then I had to re-enter all the information on the Royalty forms after buying the upgrade. I am very unhappy.
What's great about it: easy after Turbo forces me to upgrade twice.
What's not so great: All the forms I have used for years on Basic required two upgrades this year

Software Fine/Marketing Poor

The basic software was relatively easy to use, just like in the past. However, the packaging of the software was so confusing that I wasn't even sure I was buying software to file a tax return. The words "Deductions and Homeowners" on the package made it seem like it was extra software to be able to better compute certain special deductions, rather than basic tax software. Please go back to the simple, straightforward packaging with words like "Deluxe" etc.
What's great about it: The software is updated regularly to ensure that the latest IRS rules and regulations are being followed.
What's not so great: The packaging of the software was dreadful this year.
