Happy with the program that I have used for many years. Unhappy with the forced upgrade to Premier.
What's great about it: easy
What's not so great: bait and switch

Quitting TurboTax

I have used TurboTax software for the last 11 years and will never use it again. You forced me to switch from the Deluxe version to the Premier version. I would have never purchased your product if I was given all the pricing information up front. I am so mad that I will use a different (better) tax software next year. Goodby TurboTax.
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: Deceptive business practices

Long-Time but Never-Again TurboTax User

I am a long-time loyal user of TurboTax who will never use it again because you stripped features (e.g., Schedule D) from the Deluxe version of the product forcing me to use the Premier version....a very bad move on your part.
What's not so great: Schedule D not supported in Deluxe Version

Forced to upgrade to Premium
on October 14, 2015

Did not like that I had to upgrade to Premium from Deluxe because of the need to input Sch D investment transactions and K-1 inputs. This is something new for this tax year. Even if I wanted to go directly to the forms the program makes it very difficult. Let me make the choice to upgrade if I need guidance for simplicity but don't make it a requirement. I should be able to use the forms if my comfort with the software allows it.
What's great about it: Self directed a plus
What's not so great: Not happy with forced upgrade

over many years, it has gotten worse

I have used this program for many, many year.
I expected that it would improve over the years to cover more issues. Unfortunately, TurboTax has not expanded its offerings even though many years have gone by.
They really had an opportunity to excel, but they did not.
What's great about it: there are prompts to enter data
What's not so great: there are not prompts to enter other important data

premier version

Schedule D should have been left in the deluxe version. I don't see any difference in the premier option except I had to buy it to get schedule D, and at a Premium Cost! When you use the back button to verify something you may have done then move forward new boxes and questions popped up that weren't there the first time! Great - what am I missing. I've been told other tax programs will get you more money and their programs are less in cost. I had a tax person tell me they used both side by side and turbo tax gave less refund...how? This program seems to get harder to use every year with how things pop up and are worded. I will definitely try another program next year.
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: misses steps, expensive

Turbo Tax

for years i have used turbo tax to make taxes easier and convenient. I have been faithful and like that its all in one package and easy to use.I like that you can save the files for reference and that you offer the state. This takes the guess work out of doing my taxes. Although i never pay to file the state. I can do that for free. i just use your program to create the correct forms and then use my state free - e-file to complete the state portion. I have always been a fan and like all of the integrated option. BUT this year - i was not happy - quite upset actually that i now have to buy the more expensive version just for a couple of forms (literally is was 2 forms.... ) I am middle class america and have investments, they are quite simple.... Sure if I have a business yes, i would expect to pay for the more complex version, from this stand point i may not use turbo tax next year.... and will say the same to the rest of my family that uses turbo tax. I just dont think that simple investments should require the more expensive version.
What's great about it: ease of use convienence
What's not so great: Annoying choice of version
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Not satisfied and a little perturbed with TurboTax
on February 3, 2015

I haven't been satisfied with TurboTax for the past few years. It has mishandled my state tax return and last year I have to complete my state tax return by hand and mail it in and this year fortunately realized that I would have to manually make changes to the state tax forms. I'm pretty sure that I followed the program's guidance correctly, so, the program probably needs some revisions to it. It also told me that since I filed using the Deluxe CD last year and the Premier this year that I was eligible to receive a $25 refund; however, even though I did this, the system at TurboTax doesn't seem to have any record of this, which is really messed up because I believe I filed my returns through its servers.
What's great about it: This was the first year I was able to import the previous year's return information.
What's not so great: It completely mishandled my state tax return and I had to make major changes manually.
