I've been using TurboTax for 8 years and it has met my tax filing needs well. You don't have to be super-savvy on the computer. Just make sure to read the directions carefully and the rest will be a breeze.
What's great about it: Easy-to-use, very thorough and detailed without being intimidating

on March 3, 2015

The self employment health insurance deduction is hard to find and enter. I knew it went on line 29 of the 1040 but I couldn't get TurboTax Premier to put it there. I had to go to Google and search for how and where to enter it.
What's great about it: auto download of investment 1099 data
What's not so great: self employment health insurance deduction hard to enter

Would have been five stars except for the forms excluded from Basic Turbo Tax which required a second purchase.

Peace of mind
on March 4, 2015

I've used Turbo Tax for 5 years and have never had a problem. This year my tax return had some tricky problems and I had to call the Turbo Tax pros for assistance. Both times, the experts spent extra time to find a solution to my complicated tax problems. In one case, my expert stayed on the phone with me, even 15 minutes after the phone lines were supposed to be closed for the day. A solution was found and I was able to file without a hitch. Throughout the phone calls, the experts were friendly and very helpful.
What's great about it: tax pros extremely helpful

Solid As Ever
on March 4, 2015

Turbotax is an ideal tax preparation system as it allows an individual to simply do inputs, without having to spend time digging through the mountain of IRS regs and forms. It has good "energy (enthusiasm) encouragement" boosts along the way, as one progresses, to keep one pushing ahead. Makes the process more fun than drudge. Very well done, again, T-Tax!
What's great about it: Top-notch Turbotax methodical step-by-step process.
What's not so great: Not really any.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

New features improve Turbotax
on March 4, 2015
Posted by: ChrisLu
The new improved direct download feature from online brokerage account saved me hours of entering stock and mutual fund transaction date. It took about 10 minutes.
I chose to file both State and Federal tax returns online and it certainly is convenient, however, after paying $70 for the Premier Edition, I though I would get a break from the State filing fee. No such luck! They still charged me $20 to file the State return.
What's great about it: Direct Download from on line Brokerage Account
What's not so great: State Filing Fee is too expensive ($20)
Pros: I bought or sold investments
