Excellent linkage to financial institutions

I've been using TurboTax for my personal return which is fairly straightforward: Military retirement, Social security, IRA RMDs, and investments for more than 10 years. This is the first year I've let it go to my brokers and download Sked B and Sked D data. Very slick! Really speeds up the process.
The best thing about running Quicken and TurboTax is that you can "what if" your investment decisions to determine their tax impact beforehand which can save a lot of money.
What's great about it: easy importation of brokerage info
What's not so great: none noted
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I get more comfortable with this software every year
What's great about it: well organized
What's not so great: sometimes misleading, don't like that it is sometimes incompatible with older software and requires upgrade

Easy to use, except for muni bond interest
on March 2, 2015

TurboTax was easy to navigate. However, a major problem for me was accounting for multiple categories of bond interest for government bonds: (1) taxable by the US and New Jersey; (2) US tax-exempt but taxable by NJ (e.g., out-of-state municipals; (3) taxable by the US but tax-exempt in NJ (i.e., NJ Build America Bonds); and (4) exempt from both US and NJ taxes. If your 1099-DIV contains multiple types of bond interest, you have to manually input a separate "1099-DIV" for each category. Then, for the New Jersey return, you have to make manual adjustments to account for the Amortized Bond Premium and Accrued Interest Paid for the bonds that were US tax-exempt. It's too laborious and error-prone. The TurboTax software should be able to account for these scenarios.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate
What's not so great: Requires too many manual entries and overrides for muni bond investments
Pros: I bought or sold investments

disappointing this year

This was the first time in the many many years I have been a turbo tax customer that I thought the year before was easier than the current year. this year was a big step backward- harder to navigate, no schedule d in deluxe though kudos for offering premier to make up for it, (and so I will remain a loyal turbo tax customer) overall the experience this year was not as good as it has traditionally been in the past, but since you stepped up and corrected the issue with schedule d, I am willing to stay with turbo tax and hope that next year you get back on the yearly improvements and excellence that I have always enjoyed in the past.
What's great about it: great integration with prior year returns
What's not so great: harder to navigate, deluxe no longer had schedule d as it always had before,

I was forced to upgrade to Premier, but did not need to do so in the end. Other than that, using Turbo Tax has been easy to use the past 5 years.
What's great about it: Quick and painless.
What's not so great: Requiring upgrade when not needed.
Pros: I moved
