kept getting message when filing that "we're having trouble processing your request". Spent over an hour with wait time and debug time to get issue resolved. Analyst was very helpful and very patient and we succeeded in getting returns filed.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: long wait for phone support

I've used this program every year for at least 15 years, and it just seems to get easier to use every year. The best.
What's great about it: Quick and efficient
What's not so great: Bumps in the night

Thought RMD's only applied to retirement investment accounts (IRAs, etc.) Confusing when asked about a RMD relative to a State retirement plan.
What's great about it: Comprehensive format.
What's not so great: Asked about RMD's for a defined benefit retirement plan???

Good Once Again

I've been a user of Turbo Tax for many, many years, and it's a great product. This year, as many are aware, Intuit removed some capabilities from the Deluxe version that were there in previous years. While Intuit allowed free upgrades to the Premier version in certain cases, I am concerned that next year's Deluxe version won't be sufficient for my tax situation. The Deluxe version has to include investment income capabilities in next year's software. Investment income is too prevalent for too many taxpayers to not be covered in the Deluxe version.
What's great about it: Easy to use, covers each topic in good detail
What's not so great: New limitations in Deluxe version
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I entered the wrong pin # and return was rejected.
Called and talked to Marie. She walk me through the steps to correct this. She was wonderful, courteous, knowledgeable and from the sound of her voice, beautiful. I will continue to use TurboTax in the future.
Thank you,
Don Kuzik
What's great about it: Walked me right through this tax return.

Done with Taxes I Hope

The return went well and the program guided me through most things well. I had a bit of a problem trying to get the state program to all for the deduction of the capital gains on the sale of an Oklahoma Municipal Bond. As the amount was only $34 I finally gave up said that it was taxable. The program kept wanting an address or a Federal EIN number. Neither of these goes with a municipal bond. Amount for filing state return seems higher than I have heard that other programs charge for this service.
What's great about it: Guiding helped a lot. Liked being able to check amount entered this year compared with last year. That saved mistakes.
What's not so great: Changing the content of the Deluxe version to not include stock sales..
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Still messing up 1099 import feature
on March 2, 2015

I still love using TurboTax to file my personal returns but this is the third year in a row where I've had to go in and manually fix the errors that occurred when I import my 1099 from my brokerage account. It only happens with the information with respect to options trades. For some reason, TT doesn't import the Cost Basis and the Sales Proceeds column is always listed with the net difference between the Cost Basis and the Sales Proceeds. You really need to fix that cause it's a pain in the butt to manually fix everything if you have a lot of transactions.
What's great about it: Still generally doing a great job.
What's not so great: Really need to fix the 1099 import feature
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
