Easy to get a refund

I have been using TurboTax for years and every year improvements are made. It makes filing taxes for federal, state and local a breeze. I especially like the fact you can choose to follow step by step if you want or to just select the items that pertain to my tax situation.
What's great about it: Very straight forward to use and understand
What's not so great: At least weekly software or forms updates so I was unclear when I could proceed or to wait on more changes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I use TurboTax every year and continue to be pleased with its ease of use and ease of understanding.
What's great about it: Good prompts, good explanations, really great to bring forward last year's information.
What's not so great: Don't understand why it asks if I have carryovers, when it has access to last several years return on my computer.

Few "hiccups"

In the “Let’s Review your Numbers section” under Federal Tax Summary, you have a hyperlink to “detail tax breakdown”. This takes you to the 2014 Tax Breakdown section. I entered Property Taxes, but it’s not listed under the “You Entered” column. Didn’t affect me personally as I always manually sum up the deductions total (i.e., I always fail to qualify and end up with the Standard Deduction anyway). But,,, it may affect someone else. Hope this helps…
Also, your program got confusing after I entered an oil royalty income in the 1099-MISC section (i.e., it states you will come back to this later). After entry, it “doubled” the entry and amount in Schedule E section. I ended up simply deleting the two 1099-MISC’s and starting over. You need to let the program take you directly to the Schedule E information as part of the 1099-MISC “or” have it list it in Schedule E section to select and complete. It was like it got hung in a loop. Hope this helps…
P.S., tell your boss, Susan Goodarzi, Thanks for the free upgrade for Deluxe. I have one little oil royalty that requires a Schedule E. To purchase the upgrade for that “one form” costs more than the oil royalty pays in a year, and oil prices are falling LOL…
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Not smooth on 1099-MISC to Schedule E Reporting

I was fine until I had to pay to upgrade to receive the schedule D forms even though TurboTax CEO said that upgrades would be free. I installed TurboTax on Feb 8th so the upgrade should have been free!!
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Had to upgarde to Premium.

Unhappy - Investment Transactions Upgrade Require
on March 1, 2015
Posted by: fred1415
I have a few investment transactions and was unhappy to discover that I was required to upgrade to a higher priced software. I later received a notice that I would receive a refund of part of the costs -- but not all of the additional costs that I paid. Very disappointed.
What's great about it: Import Features
What's not so great: Additional Cost
