A godsend

Turbo Tax is very helpful and user friendly, I will continue to use it. My only "complaint" is when I went to print the forms at the end, it said I had an error but would not tell me what it was. All the checks had run cleanly and said there were no errors.

TurboTax is consistently an outstanding product. I like the combination of the free online tool ItsDeductible with TuboTax. ItsDeductible is a great way to capture donations and deductible items throughout the year. The 2014 TurboTax product had a bug which prevented the item cash values to be imported. I checked the Intuit questions and found a question/answer that showed how to get the fix from Inuit and apply it to my software, two text files. It was minor and I could do it, but I knocked off one star in rating this product. Normally I'd give it a 5 star rating. Still, I recommend TurboTax over anything else.
What's great about it: Consistently excellent.
What's not so great: One small bug on importing from ItsDeductible this year.

Just Okay

I had a very difficult time and spent a lot of time trying using the "HELP" system only to find out that a lot of people were having the exact problem. I finally gave up because I just wanted this thing done and the error was in the IRS's favor and I wasn't trying to cheat them
I wasn't too happy when I had to upgrade to the Premier Edition because I volunteered to do the taxes for my 91 year old mother-in-law who had to sell her house because she couldn't afford to live in the little and I do mean little bungalow that she owned so for that I had to upgrade at a cost of $31.80. I won't tell her about these additional costs, she has enough problems. I'll just tell her that every thing went smooth as silk

I have used TurboTax for years and was worried when I heard abut the identity theft problems. I almost didn't use it this year. Please make sure my faith has been well placed.

Turbo Tax unnerves me sometimes. It didn't pick up last year's return and all the updates that continuously happen... it may not affect my taxes, but it concerns me. Price is a bit high too - for buying the program and filing taxes.

What's not so great: didn't pull up last year's returns; updates consistently going on

Preparing tax returns for federal and state (CA) is a pain. There is always something the individual user forgets. Using TurboTax is far better than a checklist. You can get explanations along the way for each step. IYou are told exactly what documents you need. Complexity is handled step by step and much faster than any other method. Filing is a matter of clicking a few buttons; refunds or necessary payments won't fall through the crack. The entire process A-Z is on the computer, including printing out your returns. TurboTax can't be beat by any other method.
What's great about it: Fast, thorough, easiest way to prepare and file
What's not so great: Deletion of Schedule D from Deluxe was a major mistake!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
