Does not handle international returns properly!!!

The software is getting better every year but as tax returns get more complex due to international laws it should keep up with all the possible ways to automate savings.
Using form 1116 to claim foreign tax paid kept adding 2 times the amount of deduction to the return. I gave up on chasing it after 2 hours and filed via standard deductions losing about $200 in my return.
What's great about it: Ease of use for those who cannot comprehend working with raw IRS instructions.
What's not so great: Has some bugs - form 1116 kept adding 2x foreign tax deduction.

Only one Con!

I have used Turbo Tax since the first year it started and have always been happy with it. I not only like Turbo Tax Software, but I have been extremely happy with the call in customer service. I have been very ill and am now disabled. This year I had to mail my taxes in by Oct. 15, it would have been great if there was also a way (just a button to select) to send Turbo tax a copy of my return. You just don't know how Turbo Tax having a copy of my taxes has helped in the past. We had a home fire that took everything and you helped me get it back.
What's great about it: Love it over all.
What's not so great: Please read below
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I had a baby, I moved

Completed my federal and state returns. Could not file my state return because the forms were not available. When forms became available I paid the fee and tried unsuccessfully to file the state return. It kept going back and trying to get me to furnish additional information for my federal return which had already been successfully e-filed. It was in a loop and I could not do anything. No telephone number and help feature is useless. No idea how to e-file my state return which I have already paid for.

Poor programming, 12+ hours wasted time, conflicting info from 7+ different reps. Never had so many issues with any tax software program in my life.
What's great about it: There are no Pros
What's not so great: So many issues trying to complete tax return

Very Poor Experience

After many years, this one was very disappointing. The program could not handle various stock plans for employees and it was very difficult to modify anything already interviewed and entered.. In addition the e-filing was not well explained, was continually rejected for an inexplicable reason, and there was very little rational explanation. I am not sure I will use it again.
What's great about it: walk through interview is a good concept
What's not so great: It was very difficult to modify anything already entered, and the e-filing was a nightmare

TurboTax Premium - Great but 1 important bug
on January 16, 2015

Overall, it's very good each year. There was one significant software bug this year, however. The state refund from last year imported in a different amount than what the tax year 2013 files had. It did offer a screen to verify the values, which I now will be sure and check EVERY year. I did notice that the refund amount for the state was going to be imported at a wrong amount. So I looked at last year's data and made the manual change to the correct amount. As a final verification that it's a software bug, I created a fresh virtual Windows 7 machine, installed the Tax Year 2013 Turbo Tax app, allowed all updates on Windows plus Turbo Tax 2013 to occur. Then, I opened up the same 2013 data file return (the same one that was used to import in the data from last year). I confirmed that the value that was now showing for last year was the same value that was used when filing, it matched my bank deposit, and it was a totally different value shown to be importing into the current 2014 Turbo Tax software. So, when manually making the correction in the 2014 entry, I had to answer a "reason" for the change and no valid option was available, i.e., no entry for a software glitch, so I had to select something for it to continue. So, I chose that the state made an adjustment.
What's great about it: Love the importing of each year's data, warnings when values seem excessively different, etc.
What's not so great: Unable to "choose my own categories" in the state section like the federal section

Your web site was maze to use. Kept directing me to file online and would not let me out. It was really upsetting me and I would have gone elsewhere if I had not already promised someone that we would split the 5 federal efiles. Of MOST CONCERN is that the site allowed me to access my previous years information WITHOUT entering a password. (I am an IT person and I know about caching/cookies etc.) This was on a new computer that had never been to the intuit/turbo tax site. So I tried it on my laptop that just had the hard drive replaced and it also let me access previous years information. That is a huge loss of confidence. Especially after your error in the program from 5 years ago cost me the earned income credit for my 19 year old collage student. // back to the online experience, once you click on more info and it asks for your first name, you are locked in to filling out the rest. You need a way out or a cancel button. Now my account always defaults back to completing the free online filing even though I bought software and have already filed my return. Been using turbo tax for 15 years and I'm losing faith in your product.
What's great about it: Mostly the same appearance as previous years.
What's not so great: Web/online experience.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been a TurboTax user for about 20 years. This is the first time I had to move to Premiere to complete my taxes. Due to this, I will look at other solutions to do my taxes to see if any match up to turbo tax..
What's great about it: TurboTax quality and Ease of Use
What's not so great: Forced me to go from Deluxe to Premiere to do my taxes
