When TurboTax asks for a total, say medical costs, I did not see a function that allows me to list the details that comprise the total amount.

Great Tax Product - Year after Year, it works.

It is a great product. All you need to do is be a little organized and you can file your own taxes.
What's great about it: If doing several years, comparisons are crucial and help identify errors.

Ease of TurboTax

I have been using TurboTax for years. I find it very easy to use. It walks me through all of the income and deductions and if I need more information I can stop and get it. It scans the return for errors so I am confident that there are no mathmatical errors.

I love the import feature from my brokerage firm.The system is so easy and beautifully designed. I have used the premeir edition for the past 6 years. It allows me to get all the technical stuff done without an accountant.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very easy to see where I need to review and update for the current year as previous year's amounts are there to compare. It just gets better each year and I've been at it a long time…maybe 20 years with TurboTax.
I also appreciate the free upgrade this year according to the sections I need.
What's great about it: Very easy to navigate and quickly complete the sections I need.
What's not so great: Getting more expensive. Doesn't do trust returns.
