wasted time required for adaptation of program

You show no familiarity with the Organic Act, providing a mirror tax system for the US Virgin Islands, including the use of all federal tax forms. For additional information, see IRS publication number 4868,.. You need to recognize the Virgin Islands is a valid postal address (VI). There is no provision for the support of adult children for whom 90% of their support for the entire year – ditto grandchildren.Let's get with it, folks!
What's great about it: Deductions were extensive
What's not so great: see below

Program is getting worse
on October 10, 2015

1. Charged extra for investments which was not clear at time of purchase. 2. When paid for Premium lost the ability to use the state forms and spent several hours trying to figure out how to fix that. 3. No more planning schedule for future years. 4. No ability to show nominee interest for capital gains on a joint account. 5. No flexibility to add separate explanation worksheets from Excel. 6. Takes much longer to input info before of extra questions and pages for simple inputs, particularly on charitable donations. 7. Less explanations for errors and inflesibility 8. I shouldn't have to write a review to be able to print my taxes!!! 9. Mind your own business with all these questions about me with the review. 10.. I'm not going to read your terms and conditions just to be able to get past the review stage so as to print my return.
What's great about it: With effort can still do taxes
What's not so great: Extra cost and works less well

Review - why do you need a title?

It seems like you rush toward the filing without reviewing early in the process.
Always want to review and print before submitting. Not clear this will happen.
Too info requested to file a review

More frustrating than last year
on October 11, 2015

Overall useful but more difficult to use and frustrating without being able to easily call Turbo Tax for help.
When doing the final review I got an error for Schedule K-1 S Corporation. The form didn't show up in the federal form list but did show up in California. The error was no name entered. (I didn't have any K-1s this year but have in previous years). When I checked the data source for the missing field it was for the federal form which wasn't listed. I checked the K-1 section of the federal return and suspiciously the step by step asked if I wanted to update, I clicked it and got the blank name with no option to delete the form. Eventually I filled in Form Error No Schedule K-1. When I did this and went back to the step by step in the federal form it allowed me to delete the form. The software should work better than this. It should not start a form until you fill something in and in any case should allow you to see and delete the form if it is started and generates an error.
The other annoying error was in the Hawaii state return. I got errors for not filling in the Hawaii Tax ID number even though I checked the box for "Check this box if this business is located outside Hawaii, is no longer in existence, or the Hawaii Tax I.D. number is not available. It did this for 3 rental properties outside Hawaii. The was very annoying and I finally just had to let it go with the error in the review.
What's great about it: Overall easy to use
What's not so great: Had frustrating errors in the software

Frustrated

I started using TurboTax Deluxe in 2002, and have used it every year since. I have always purchased TurboTax Deluxe. I have several rental properties, and I keep track of rental expenses using Quicken Essentials on my Apple Mac. I use spreadsheets to itemize all rental expenses, and spreadsheets for large purchase house improvement items that need to be depreciated. In past years, I only entered rental income and total rental expenses into TurboTax Deluxe so it could process Schedule E. I attached a copy of the rental expenses spreadsheet (for each property) to Schedule E when mailed to IRS.
TurboTax Deluxe for 2014 would not allow me to make the two entries I needed (for each rental property) so I could printout Schedule E. I was forced to upgrade to TurboTax Premier and pay an extra $30.
Really FRUSTRATED with TurboTax this year.
What's great about it: TurboTax nicely steps you through tax preparation process.
What's not so great: Deleted Schedule E from TurboTax Deluxe.

Poor experience

I updated TurboTax frequently; however, I was unable to file my Premium Turbo Tax State taxes because it had printed on the State forms DO NOT FILE. I manually entered the data into a paper State Tax form and mailed the tax form to PA. It took me a few hours to reenter the data to paper. I paid to have my PA State filed like my federal tax form. I waited 6 months for the fix that never arrived.
What's great about it: Kept records in one place for easy printing
What's not so great: Unable to file PA State return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Premier = Well Worth the cost!

Premier is well worth the cost! It was amazing to find something that worked so well. Downloading the desktop version vs. online made this hot mess of a return turn into an easier process. Cons: I missed a box with the home sale and it took a really long time and google searching to find it again. Overall, this was a great experience. We had filed an extension because it seemed like a daunting task but it actually was pretty painless and I am wondering why we waited so long to file our return!
What's great about it: Addresses all income even short sales
What's not so great: Form navigation was not intuitive
Pros: I bought or sold investments
