Getting to Details
on February 25, 2015
Posted by: brucetucker6795
I've used TurboTax for years now, and have had good results every time. This little glitch is just that you changed something that long-time users were used to and didn't tell us up front. It can happen, but it does remind you that you have returning costomers and they should be considered as you make changes to the process.
I'm sure I'll buy it next year.
Good luck!
What's great about it: Easy once you figure out how
What's not so great: Nothing tells you to just right click on entry to see detail

Breezed Through This
on February 25, 2015

This product is easy to use with great look on the screen. Working on, saving, exiting and returning to the Federal return is simple as it takes one back to where you left off. Not the case for State - work on the State, save exit and return only have to work your way through to where you left off (you do need to re-enter data, just click-click-click your way back) .. It would be great if State worked the same as Federal.
What's great about it: Simple, step by step, Federal picks up where you last exited when returning
What's not so great: State return requires you to start at the beginning if you exit then return

Progressive Changes

I resent being manipulated by your program to do things a certain way. Particularly being pushed to e-file. Also it is more dificult to get into the nuts and bolts of the form. This may be OK for the simpler folk but as one of at least average intelligence I don't like it.
What's great about it: It works OK
What's not so great: Manipulative and not user friendly

Ease of use degrading each year
on February 25, 2015
Posted by: since1992
The ease of use and user interface of TurboTax appears to degrade each year. We've been using it since 1992. This year the Deluxe versus Premier division was poorly executed since aside from extra cost it was not clear what functionality was lost, after purchasing Deluxe we had to next purchase Premier for one atypical entry we had this year - the details on the functionality of each version were not sufficiently clear - there should be a tax line by tax line comparison of features on each box. Researching if there's better software for next year that covers what Deluxe used to do.
What's great about it: Relative speed in preparing return
What's not so great: New division in functionality TurboTax Deluxe and Premier confusing

I purchased both HR Block and TurboTax Premier
on February 25, 2015

HR Block seemed to be a little more intuitive and easier to use but when it came to rental properties it was insufficient from my point of view. I am in the mindset that paying more for the software is well worth it if you can save time and frustration. Even though I am going to file with Turbo Tax I must say it is terribly terribly frustrating software.
What's great about it: I am going to use Turbo Tax
What's not so great: Even though Turbo Tax is remarkably frustrating
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Extra fees!
on February 25, 2015
Posted by: MichaelJS
We purchased the Deluxe software and had to upgrade to Premium. Then had to pay for state and a processing fee, then we were asked to purchase audit protection. We could have someone prepare our taxes and include audit protection for that price. What a joke! Never using Turbo Tax again!
What's great about it: Walked us through the process
What's not so great: Hidden fees around every corner
Pros: I moved

Change was not good
on February 25, 2015

TTax is still a good program to easily use. Messing with software content - not so much. On the final check it wanted changes to a form not even used. Finally got over the hurdle to filing by entering zero in the blanks. We'll see how hard it is to get $25 credit.
What's great about it: still basically the same
What's not so great: making simple return purchase next level of software

Great Program
on February 25, 2015

I have a very complicated return. Dividends, Interest, capital gains, Rental income, sale of rental property.
The program took me through everything step by step.
What's great about it: Step by step thorough
What's not so great: None
