Got it covered!

I stuck with Turbo Tax this year as I have in the past even though I added a rental property and exercised employee stock options. The step by step instructions were easy to follow and helped me understand how the changes impacted my taxes. The rental property set up was easy - I only wish it had more information on the impact of choosing to depreciate improvements vs. categorize them as repairs. I had to do some IRS research on that.
What's great about it: Easy to enter rental income/expenses and stock plans - very clear detailed instructions
What's not so great: It was hard to interpret the long-term impact of rental income and expenses
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2014 Tax Review
on February 25, 2015

I have used Turbo Tax for over 16 years now and I did not like the "surprise" of buying the CD and then being forced to upgrade because of the forms that you elected to put in another version. I have always been able to start and finish with the one version, and half way thru I find I had to upgrade. Very much not happy with that little trick of yours.
Then had trouble upgrading as it would not accept my password. Kept asking for the security answer which was the whole problem, I did not have it. So I kept going in a circle, send a temp password and then ask for security answer then send temp password.......
A few years ago you had the format where you could actually follow along on the forms. I did like that ability.
Still not happy about having to upgrade in the middle of doing the tax's. Next year I will be very aware of this and do some comparison with other options prior to purchasing.
Below you ask for "Add an Image". it would be a picture of me shelling out more money for the same thing I got last year for half the price.
What's great about it: Brought over information from prior year
What's not so great: Had to upgrade and pay more money. Password would not accept.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Too Much

I didn't need the Premier version, but unfortunately the software I needed for investments was not available on Deluxe which in the past, I've had not trouble navigating at all. Took 3 times as long to complete my first tax return.
What's not so great: Premier not as easy to navigate as Deluxe

Consistency of Usage
on February 25, 2015

Overall, Turbo Tax provides the consistency I am looking for, both in terms of historical data recapture and updated tax information. The 1099 B forms could be more clearly marked to ensure that you are entering data for the appropriate boxes, such as D, E (cost basis provided to the IRS or not) as I had to reenter. That was my own error.
What's great about it: Data Transfer, historical comparisons
What's not so great: Redundancy in data entry

I have used Turbo Tax for over 25 years with no difficulty; however this year I had problems. One example: after entering all info regarding deductions, I was advised that I had to use the standard deduction. I saved my file and went back to it another day. On that day I was congratulated because I had sufficient deductions and did not have to use the standard deduction. This year's Turbo Tax was not as easy to "get around" as other years.

Easy to use software
on February 25, 2015

My return was relatively simple, just my job income and some investment dividends to report, so it was very easy and quick to finish my return. The only difficulty I had was when trying to pay the filing fee for my State income tax; when I tried to connect to the credit card payment form, it couldn't connect over the internet. I had to search the TurboTax website help section to find the solution, which was to select a "TSL" security protocol in my internet security settings for Windows. But other than that the software was easy to use.
What's great about it: Easy to use, intuitive.
What's not so great: One minor bug when paying filing fee
