Turbo Tax 2014 - Help system useless

I have used turbotax for the past 15yrs.
This year was a poor experience.

Most of the question I asked the help system were to enable/disable program features (i.e. nothing to do with the actual tax part of things).
For one or two issue I was able to find a solution using the help-system answers. However for most questions, the in-program help system was useless. Simple things like - how do we get step-by-step enabled on CA state forms - the help system didn't offer anything. More over there was a response in the help system that said a "step-by-step" icon would appear when going to the state-tab, but this was not the case, there was no such icon in the top right of the CA state tab. This type of response is worse than no response,
As for the web help system, turbotax didn't even transfer my question, so I would have to type it in again. Unnessarily not user friendly. Any more than anything the help did not solve problems.

The help engine results are extremely sensitive to how the phrase is typed and what sequence. For instance allowing change in the standard versus itemized deductions required the typing the help phrase "itemized deductions, choosing"
This is useless, how is an average user going to know what they should type into the help system. For instance leaving out the comma does not provide the "jump-to" in the help results... pathetic!!!!

In the older versions, there was a question mark, right by the box you were trying to enter something in. If you clicked the question mark it would immediately take you to the help section for that specific box.
After this years' experience for the first time in 15 years I'm seriously considering whether I can use turbotax next year.

Corrupted prior year

My 2013 AGI, foreign tax credit and capital loss carry forward were not correct. My final 2013 return that Turbo Tax submitted had different numbers than what were carried forward to my 2014 return. The file that is submitted to the IRS should be locked down or at least have some warnings that it is being changed and is a bad idea.

Very Dissapointed

Have used Turbo Tax for years and been very satisfied. This year was terrible, as noted above. Also repeated "syntax" error.
Don't know if it's just my copy or if it's the Premier edition (used Deluxe before). Also couldn't print or PDF forms.

What's great about it: Very thorough, as in years past
What's not so great: Most "On Demand Assistance" boxes didn't work (blank.) Couldn't charge my credit card to file state return (locked.)

TurboTax makes it Easy!

I have been using TurboTax Premier for 7 years now, and it makes it easy to do my taxes. They cover all areas for potential income, deductions and allowances, so there are no worries that something gets missed. I highly recommend this to anyone who does taxes on their own!
What's great about it: Thorough, Easy to understand, Easy to use!
