Just One Thing to Help Review
on February 21, 2015

If I click on total W-2 wages, why can't I see the specific numbers that make up that amount? Why do I have to drill through various screens to figure that out? Please provide this feature to make data validation easier.
Please allow me to print the tax forms WITHOUT the estimated tax payment vouchers. The way you have it set up now, you force me to waste paper.
Thanks.
What's great about it: The walk through
What's not so great: Printing

Easy To File Taxes!
on February 21, 2015

Easy as last year which says alot since the Tax Code seems to get more and more complex every year. I would recommend some clearer questions up front to cover the case where someone lives in one state, but works in another. I wasted a fair amount of time where Turbo Tax took me through Part-time resident before I realized I should have filed in the second state as a non-resident. I used the Turbo Tax online help where it walked me through how to do this step by step. But it took some extra looking.
What's great about it: Walk through deductions is fantastic
What's not so great: Figuring out two state income took some extra reserach and time
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax Deluxe
on February 21, 2015

Disappointed in changeof scope of Deluxe Product which I have been buying and using for years, and requirement in the middle of using to upgrade to premium for Schedule D Capital Gains. Will be filing request for credit.
What's great about it: Basically the same as previous years and good for that.
What's not so great: Should be able to print individual pages of forms and confirmation of efile
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax is the perfect tool to complete income tax evaluation. We have been using the program for years. It populates data from previous years making it fast and easy to compare to previous years.
What's great about it: Very easy to use

Used state sales tax deduction in 2013. Error checking did not flag that it had not been used in 2014 return.
What's great about it: State Sales Tax Blank Entry Not Flagged

bad year
on February 21, 2015

Usually a consistent and good product. This year however it was confusing and complicated due to the changes being made between deluxe and premier versions. We get one k-1 per year and it is insignificant in amount. However going forward you want to charge me more for this, beyond the deluxe version I have used for years. Your charging me more than my incremental tax due. If you follow though with this next year I will not purchase your product. I am the consumer and your not competitive with these changes.
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: changes made this year

overtaxed for college distributions
on February 21, 2015
Posted by: DisappointedSCG
For taxpayers that do not qualify for a educational tax credit or deduction, TurboTax misrepresents college distributions as income, even when educational expenses exceed distributions. This would have cost me over $300 in excess taxes had I not caught the error. When I buy a tax prep software, I shouldn't have to spend a bunch of time finding and overriding errors with the software. I've been a TurboTax user for many years, but will reconsider for next year. It's bad enough that the cost is getting jacked up, but getting overtaxed on top of that is unacceptable.
What's not so great: incorrect handling of college distributions
Pros: I bought or sold investments
