Easy

I am learning disable and the step by step instruction is perfect. I love that you can go back and change and or review your progress. I like that if you don't understand something you can easily click on a help box and it describes what it is but also gives examples so you can decide if it is what you need. I have use Turbo tax for years and I swear by it.
What's great about it: step by step
What's not so great: NY returns were hard to understand
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Not as simple as last year's version

What's great about it: Guide me through all areas
What's not so great: Difficult to review when completed. Wanted to go back and review and for some reason it wasn't as simple as last few yrs

I have used turbo tax for years and have been very pleased. This year forms were printed that I didn't select and errors were made that were very hard to correct. I thought I paid for e-file for federal and two states. I got federal. When I went to file states, I was asked to pay again. I filed by mail. I doubt if I will e-file again.

Simple to use

Didn't appreciate paying extra for something that was included in the deluxe edition in previous years. Other than that there weren't any problems with the software.
What's great about it: Easy entry.
What's not so great: Had to purchase the premier edition because of investments.

Product improvements worsened my experience

As a satisfied TT customer for over 10 years, I found two issues this year that complicated my tax filing experience. First, the Deluxe version no longer includes Schedule D for itemizing deductions, so I had to buy the more expensive Premier just for that one feature. Second, there is a bug in processing the information from a 1099-B, if the 1g column for wash sale adjustments is blank (as it is on my 1099-B). TurboTax would not let me e-file with the blank info that was correctly presented on my 1099-B. I wasted a lot of time resolving this problem. Please fix it.
What's great about it: Makes it easy to navigate the complicated tax forms
What's not so great: Required to buy Premier version just to itemize deductions
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Taxes are done (for this year at least)

2014 was a big year:
Paid family leave, dividend income from an S corp, longterm gain of stock sales, move to a new state, got a new job, and hired a household employee.

The U.S., California, and Illinois tax codes are awful, and as a result TurboTax is mediocre. But it's better than paying for an accountant or attorney.
What's great about it: Stable software with good explanations
What's not so great: No feature to flag where tax code is overly complicated and automatically email my representatives a complaint
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

I've used Turbo Tax several times. Each year, it is easy to use and filing my taxes takes very little time.

I have used Turbo Tax for years. I have tried other software but never had the confidence that I have in TT.
However, I did not like the confusion this year concerning Deluxe vs Premier.
I found the input for my 1099s for the sale of a house was either non-existent or hidden so good that I couldn't find it. I finally let TT accept my entries as a 1099b. TT didn't let me enter details of cost basis adjustments or adjustments to the gross 1099 amount. I entered the adjustment amounts in total and the results were the same. I fear a TT novice or tax novice would have given up and found a CPA.
