I was disappointed that I had to purchase the Premier version to complete my return this year. I do, however, appreciate the $25 refund that has been offered.

Multi-state tax return fill sequence
on February 18, 2015
Posted by: rrrr123456
For those who have more than one state they have to file for: Tell us the sequence we should fill out the forms. Your help pages said it is important to do non-resident first and then resident. Somewhere else it says that for AZ/CA you have to do CA (resident) first and then AZ (non-resident).
Arizona depreciation is not calculated.

This Year's Winner
on February 18, 2015

The easiest process I've used since I started doing my own taxes. All the way back over 15 years. The only problem I had was trying to use the "help" options. Most of them were written in a pitch that was too small for me to read, even when I blew them up to full page size. Other than that, everything went well, only took about 3 hours and my return was complete and filed! Just waiting for the refund!
What's great about it: Excellent guidance - Outstanding follow-thru
What's not so great: Help windows were written in about a 6 pitch. Too small for me!

I love Turbo Tax!

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and find that it is so easy to use and it certainly saves a lot of money over taking your taxes to an accountant. The only problems I have is that it is sometimes a little difficult when you encounter a tax situation that is new to you because you might not see where to enter the new information initially (like the transition from working to retired).
What's great about it: The questions are so easy to understand
What's not so great: Sometimes hard to figure out new tax situations
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used turbo tax for more than 10 years and have found it extremely helpful. I feel it gets the most return for me.
What's great about it: Liked the ability to import investment forms
What's not so great: None that I found for me.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

RMDs ?????
on February 18, 2015
Posted by: TaxpayerMB
I have used TT probably since 2002, and have always found it to be very helpful. This year I had a problem with RMDS and could not find a solution. I am 68 years old and as such am not required to take an RMD. I kept trying to answer question # 9 with a yes or no answer, and it would not take it. It required an answer with a number of 0.01 or higher. Went to Q&A and most answers referenced that the reason for being asked about a RMD is because you reached 70-1/2 years of age. It became somewhat frustrating.
What's great about it: Very easy to use step by step
What's not so great: Problem w/ RMDs
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I was surprised when I found out the version didn't cover stocks since it did last year. Even though Turbotax upgraded this for free this year, I'm worried that Turbotax will ask me to pay for it next year. This increase is too much and I may go somewhere else if Turbotax does increase the cost of this option.
What's great about it: Like the technology
What's not so great: DID not like that I had to upgrade to cover stocks
