Fast,Easy, Accurate

I have use self tax preparation for many years. Turbo Tax is easy, accurate and checks all calculations .
The review at the end of every tax - Federal and State helps to assure everything is in order.
Had taxes prepared by a physical firm but they didn't find all the deductions that we had plus they charged us far more than Turbo and it took longer to file and get back any refund !
I prefer using this method of tax preparation over waiting in line or making an appointment to have taxes done. I can do this when it is convenient for me.
What's great about it: Step by Step covered with questions each subject ,ease to enter or correct each input
What's not so great: none so far

Use it every year works great

I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years. It is easy to use and helps me remember everything. I particularly like the ease of filing when I am all done. I have recommended TT to my friends and family. The last few years I have had very good luck with importing my W2s electronically which not only makes it easier but more accurate. This year in particular I could simulate IRA contributions to see what would make the most sense for me. I know this may sound like an advertisement, but I have used it for years even when I had a business.
What's great about it: Easy to install, get new form updates, easy to file

Bait & Switch

I bought the Deluxe CD--just like I do every year--and have for the past 30 years or so. During the middle of inputting my data the program requires me to Upgrade to a more costly version! I have always used the Deluxe version and my taxes this year were no different than previous years. This year, to input my rental property I had to Upgrade! What made it worse, I ended up NOT using the rental property data at all and paid for an Upgrade I didn't need anyway. This kind of "marketing" really makes me angry.
What's great about it: Easy to use; keeps getting easier. Gives peace of mind it is being done correctly.
What's not so great: Additional expenses

Taxes made simple!

I like everything about Turbotax software. It is easy to use and trustworthy. What more could you want? This software holds my hand and walks me through every tiny detail necessary in filing my taxes. It asks for all the info and paperwork that I could possibly need, so I don't have to worry about forgetting anything. I have used it for 8 years now and wouldn't file my taxes any other way!
What's great about it: I like everything about Turbotax software. It is easy to use and trustworthy.

Good, but irritating...

I've used Turbotax since the late 90s. It is, and always has been, great. Having said that, the changes they made to this year's version were not appreciated. To strip out features that have always been present, and yet call it the same version, is an awful way to treat customers. I'm glad that Turbotax eventually relented and offered upgrades for free, but the damage has been done. It will be a long time before I fully trust Turbotax again, and I'll certainly be reading the fine print going forward.
What's great about it: Seamless interface
What's not so great: Stripped down version compared to past years

Poor Interface

I was looking for information on how to print returns prior to filing - Help response appeared to give me directions for the online version, whereas I was looking for information on the dowload version.
Start of filing section had button something like "e-file federal return now" - Not a valid label, since it indicated that selecting that button would initiate e-fileing the return, so I was reluctant to select it. In actuality, the button meant that turbotax was asking whether I wanted to initiate the efiling dialogues - BIG DIFFERENCE!!!! When I got to the end, I found I had ample opportunity to print and review my return - so why wasn't there clear information about that when I sought help on printing the return. I got the feeling that the Turbo Tax product is not reviewed by new users - only those who already know the overall dialogue structure. Don't need to add more dialogue questions, but should provide better "HELP" for the download version.

It was also strange that it appeared that I had to sign-on to the turbotax website every time I wanted to work on the downloaded version of Turbotax.
Overall, this product leaves me very unsettled. I may decide to use a different product next year.
What's great about it: apears to have captured all information and calculated taxes correctly
What's not so great: Help topics didn't distinguish between online and downloaded versions

2014 Turbo Tax Delus

Contacted turbo tax for the free upgrade and all worked out ok. Just that TurboTax is supposed to make the filing process easier. That was NOT THE CASE THIS YEAR.
What's great about it: I liked the interview portion
What's not so great: 2014 deluxe was missing schedule D
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
