Easy as pie

If Turbo-Tax gives me instructions to follow, they don't always give you alternatives or places to ask a question.
What's great about it: quick, easy and straightforward
What's not so great: Hard to get questions answered

I have been using Turbo-Tax for 20 years, at least. I think it is awesome, and it seems to get better (and easier) every year.
I don't have to worry about 60,000 pages of tax laws, they do all the research and provide updates even into the year you file your return.
What's great about it: Doesn't make any difference if you are a pro or not, they cover all levels
What's not so great: I haven't found one.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Another painless filing!

I've been using Turbotax for years. I LOVE it! I would have given my experience 5 full stars if the Backdoor Roth contribution was a straight forward entry. With plenty of users contributing to a Roth this way, you'd think Turbotax would have a section for easy entry. Please, Please, Please, make this so for next year!

Import feature

I was very very disappointed as I had to purchase the TurboTax Premier version in the first place just to receive the investment income with cost basis reporting whereas last year, I was able to do this on the Deluxe version. Then, I was very disappointed, when the import feature did not work, even though my financial institute was in the list of choices for importing. Not sure what happened, but I had to type all this information in myself. Unless, they get this fixed, I will probably try something different next year.
What's great about it: Great when it works!

Disappointed this year

Aside from the Deluxe downgrade debacle this year, I am getting frustrated with Turbo Tax. The data entry procedures are very cumbersome and time consuming. I have other tax software that allows entry in spreadsheet form. I can be done in an hour or less. With Turbo Tax, it's a full afternoon. When my wife reviews the taxes, she is as frustrated as I am.
Downloads of tax info does not work as planned. Two out of three downloads consistently fail, meaning I had to make over 40 data entries by hand.
As usual, it's reliable, checks for errors, asks questions if it doesn't think something is right, etc. That's the good part. But I don't like having a one-hour job turned into a five-hour job. And then paying to e-file state returns on top of that.
What's great about it: Reliable, makes sure it's right
What's not so great: Cumbersome, frustrating

Too many characters

Imported from Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, and it's name has too many characters. Both Federal and Iowa State froze up on the characters not allowing any characters to be removed. Too many characters stopped Iowa from allowing estimated tax forms to be printed.

My tax experience

It is good overall but the inability to delete some items is frustrating
What's great about it: Walks you through the process with simple questions
What's not so great: can't get rid of Form K and a couple of other things
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy to use, but would like to see more like the tax forms showing so you can be sure of input.
What's great about it: Easy to use, not any questions that I could not get answers for.
What's not so great: Not easy to see each step, but very easy
