Used For Years
on February 16, 2015

I've used this product for so many years I can't even remember how long it's been. I've never been disappointed. (I used to fill out the forms manually, with the verbose instruction manuals, and that was PAINFUL!) The process still takes time, to assemble all the supportive documentation, but once that's all in hand, the entry is simple to follow and to carry out. THANKS!
What's great about it: Detailed, interview-style process which includes detailes one might not think of.
What's not so great: Froze once, but immediately on re-start recovered return complete to the same point.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

If the higher ups decide to leave this product alone, I will continue use and purchase. I have used this product for 10 years and was disappointed with the changes, but returned with the return to past offerings.
What's great about it: Free upgrade made me return
What's not so great: New product changes, frustrated initally

Great experience, could be more efficient

I use Turbo tax for myself and now for my kids. i save tons of time and I am always confident in the results. Its easy to see the progress you are making as well as find the gaps you still need to close while filing. The one remaining challenge is to identify deductions you are eligible for without making you answer large numbers of questions only to find out it was obvious you don't qualify based on income levels.
What's great about it: Excellent flexibility, with ability to find and jump to forms as needed.
What's not so great: So many questions about deductions that you end up not eligible for. based on income you already know about.

Turbo Tax is Wonderful!
on February 16, 2015

I have used Turbo Tax for as many years as I can remember. It is such a wonderful tax software package. It is very fast on my computer, and I can quickly get to any tax form that I wish to work on using the <forms> or <list> feature. I like that once my entries are typed in, the software re-calculates the amount due or owed. I particularly like how the software transfers a lot of my entries from last year, along with my W2-info and my carryover amounts. It saves me so much time. I also like the fact that the software does not crash in the middle of entry. I have had that to happen with other software in the past. I could go on and on, but each year, the improvements and features applied to Turbo Tax are so helpful and appreciated.
What's great about it: Extremely user friendly and helpful
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy filing

I really liked the reach back to last year to populate this year's return. I like the fact Turbo Tax keeps track of the prior years history of our IRAs (I don't have a clue of how to treat them when I finally get to withdraw them). I thought the questions along the way were simple enough for me. I appreciated the links to the IRS pubs. I like the fact you remembered my banking and filing information. The house sale section was good.
What's great about it: I liked the reach back to last year's return to populate this year
What's not so great: Make it easier to figure out how to treat military retirement income. When I enter the data you shouldn't ask ?s later
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Options for Virginia State Tax Refund
on February 16, 2015
Posted by: sdexnorva1
When I reviewed my Virginia state income tax return TT did not tell me or ask me about options on how to get my refund. Virginia still says that we can get them via a debit card or via a credit to my checking account. However, no questions were asked and when I printed the return TT had already decided that I was to get it via a debit card.
What's not so great: TT gave no options
