not catching errors

Information entered by merging info from my Quicken and when downloaded from Scottrade went to a form it gave two identical numbers on two different lines but left them and did not give any flags that showed that this may be a duplicate.

Taxes are done

I have been a Turbo Tax customer for years and plan on continuing using Turbo Tax. The product explains each section clearly and gives you the obtain to obtain futher information. I have never had to redo my taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to follow each section
What's not so great: State filing is not free
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Gambling Losses

I wanted to do the Deluxe package because I don't really need the Premier. I tried to do my gambling winnings and losses and it would not take out my losses.
What's great about it: Don't need to manually calculate
What's not so great: On your Deluxe, your forms are wrong when it comes to gambling losses

Mostly Good

As an occasional author, I receive small royalties periodically. I declare them as royalties but somehow a larger amount occurred on Schedule E. I had to call and work with a very nice Turbotax person to finally get it deleted. I could not change the entry from the "walk me through it", I had to go into the forms, Schedule E and finally I was able to eliminate the erroneous entry. I realize that the complexity of the tax laws complicates your programmers job. Let's all hope that our Congress can someday agree to make useful ways to simplify our tax returns. It took me about 18 hours to organize and enter all my data this year. Too much time for anyone with a relatively simple amount of retirement and investments. I have been using TurboTax for many years and will continue next year.
What's great about it: TurboTax takes you through all tax items that one must consider.
What's not so great: Difficult to delete Schedules that are not needed.

Program Pefrmance

I was glad to see that Turbo Tax provided remedy in allowing upgrading from Deluxe to Premier because of the misunderstanding about the change in the Deluxe program. You have the very best program in the world, please don't let some eager beaver pursue the bottom line over program quality.a
What's great about it: Loved the electronic transfer of data from fund sources
What's not so great: Dealing with income sources other than W2 information was a little confusing but not too difficult to work through

More than one year check

I missed my 1098E interest payment in 2013, but Turbo Tax did not catch that when I filled my 2014. I wish when you import large expenses like a business or education that there was a comparison to the previous return to look for missed opportunities for additional cash!
What's great about it: Great Navigation & Easy to Understand Headers
What's not so great: No 2013 reviews for missed deductions based on 2014

What a fantastic experience with TurboTax

Everyone knows that the tax filing is a complex process but after using TurboTax, I gained confidence that I can prepare my tax returns myself. The features I like include one-screen info for each step, saving when uncompleted, reminding about new laws, suggesting any deductions which we may forgot, auditing for areas which should be examined carefully, and save and print option for my record.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions and reminding about deductions
What's not so great: Did not find any cons
