Maximized My Refund

The guided tour was a big help, it made tax time much more tolerable. The program addressed all of our investments and itemization's. Using ItsDeductible (free program from Intuit) organized our charitable contributions, both cash and household items, and imported it into TurboTax.
No more huge tax accountant fees for me!
What's great about it: Very easy to use, fast and effecient
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I read that there were changes to the deluxe edition but with the free upgrade it was not difficult. I have used TurboTax for 10 years and will keep using it. It is very thorough and walks you through everything. I also was able to speak to a tax specialist who was very helpful. She helped me get through the new sections in the program.
What's great about it: Very thorough
What's not so great: some new areas of information needed

Needs work

I was very upset when I went to enter stock information and tit had changed. The 800 number was nice, I did get an update and the lady was very kind. I'll think twice before buying next year. I do not mind paying a little more but don't change too much!
What's great about it: Once I called the 800 number the lady was a huge help
What's not so great: buying something that I thought I had but didn't

Upgrade Irritations

I was very unhappy about having to upgrade to Premier this year when Schedule D has always been part of the Deluxe package. And the upgrade cost me more than the $25 reimbursement being offered. I sure hope Turbo Tax does the right thing and puts Schedule D back in the Deluxe version - if not I'll be checking out your competitor's software.
It was also very frustrating that upon upgrading to Premier I ended up in an endless loop when trying to do my State return where it kept saying my software was up to date but I could go no further. I finally found an error code that indicated I had a corrupt installer file. Took my PC in to have diagnostics and repairs done, to no avail. Finally a co-worker found out that the problem could be resolved by uninstalling Turbo Tax from the Premier sub-directory and reinstalling it in the Deluxe sub-directory. That worked, but I had already done my state return by hand (so the extra cost I paid for my state return was a waste) and I had the costs of having my PC looked at and a lot of unnecessary frustration all around. This was my absolute worst experience ever with software.
What's great about it: Love TurboTax because I've used it for years
What's not so great: Not happy about needing to upgrate to Premier this year.

What's great about it: like to walk through myself
What's not so great: can't figure out how to let gov. keep part of refund for next year
