I think you should refund the cost of the program for the purchase price of the program. The remedy for the problems claims that turbo tax will walk you through and for me that means directing you to the page in question and the line in question with an explanation and direction as to what the response should be.
What's great about it: I've been with turbotax for many years and rely on transfer of info and ease of use
What's not so great: the form 8962 issue and there are some areas that could be simplified

Always wonder why there is not an easier way to just jump to using the Standard Deduction when you know that is what you want to do.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Additional charges for state filings!

I beat the CPA!

Spent the last 6 years going to an accountant for taxes-the wife was just too nervous (we have 1099's, expenses, k-1's, etc). But I've helped my dad do his taxes on Turbo Tax for years, and I always would do a mock-up of mine as well--every year, it came out almost exactly the same. So this year I ran it prior to going to the CPA. The result?: Federal = REFUND!, STATE = REFUND! and ran the error checker 5x = no errors.
Love it! got a refund and saved myself another $300 by not going to an accountant.
What's great about it: So easy, way less $$ than an accountant, and error free!
What's not so great: where's the "tools" for Mac users? also, the whole state tax in MN deal
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax is misleading wrt IRA basis (i.e., input screen advises that taxpayers normally do not track non-deductible contributions to IRAs) when converting a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. Actually skipping this step leads to the entire IRA conversion amount as being taxable.
Should a taxpayer enter the IRA contribution basis (post taxable, non-deductible contributions), TurboTax makes it too easy to delete entries during the review process. In other words, the software user must remember which buttons previously clicked on during data entry to avoid TurboTax automatically deleting previous entries.
What's great about it: importing information and data from financial firms
What's not so great: too easy to overwrite information already input to Turbotax
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The basic that I have always used did not have the forms that it used to I had to upgrade from basic to Premier. This was un expected. I was told I could get a refund but not told how.
What's great about it: As always it`s a snap to use.
What's not so great: I had to up grade to complete my returns.

I prefer not having to pay someone else to do what I can do myself. If I go to a tax preparer, I still need to have all the numbers to hand him. Since I've already done the work gathering all the documents, why not data enter and save hundreds of dollars?! I And the tax preparers take forever to do my return. like being able to add a number and see what it does to the bottom line.
What's great about it: Enter a number and see how it affects the bottom line
What's not so great: Had to pay more this year to get Real Estate version
