Indispensable during an IRS exam!

When chosen this year for a full two-day IRS "compliance research exam" of a prior year, I was glad to have done my returns on TurboTax. Thanks to TurboTax, I was well organized and able to provide credible backup on tricky calculations related to multiple K-1s, without having to obtain professional representation.

Multiple state income tax

I have primary house and rental properties in 4 different states. The instruction and interface are not good . your coding seems only consider 2 states , but not more. I always have difficulty for the data entry and the amount do not flow to the right places, need a lot of manual entries . They included tax summary, each state tax credit from other states etc..
What's great about it: At least it is better.
What's not so great: The software coding/interface are not good.

Better this year than ever!

I was glad to see that some of the questions that I have already answered in different sections before getting to the point when I input actual tax data, were saved and didn't have to go through pages of answering the same questions over and over (like are you an active participant, did you own your property all year, etc.). Still some I had to watch carefully as I navigated to be sure I didn't forget to answer one as I tried to get to the information I really needed to work on. The reference material for answering questions seemed easier to access this year.
What's great about it: Everything seemed easier to use than in past years; reference materials were very helpful; navigationa little easier
What's not so great: Having to input introductory information for each section when trying to revisit sections

Mostly Easy To Use

I like the ability to import tax documents and import tax tagged items from Quicken. The Guide process makes it easy to complete what you need and skip what you don't. At any point you can switch and even drill down to the tax form / worksheet level. Only negative is managing 1099 B from Broker and K-1 from entity like ProShares where they supply a different Sales Schedule (1099 B). Makes reporting difficult because of extra entry and correcting broker 1099B so that you are not double taxed.
What's great about it: Simple downloads imports, easy guide me
What's not so great: 1099 B and K-1 management (example: Proshares UVXY)

I think I understand taxes for the most part, but TurboTax makes sure I don't miss anything.
What's great about it: Thorough; reminds me about tax areas to think about.
What's not so great: Doesn't organize my source data.

compact records for Tax report

frustrated with computer inputting, referring to old returns for specific lines, Having to purchase additional program after already purchased the one I had previous year - i,e, royalties.
What's great about it: forms, input info, tutorial, examples and guidance xcellent
What's not so great: getting computer updates, internet issues at times, purchase of additional program not knowing royalties not incl.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
