Great, but please add....

It would be extremely helpful to be able to fill in the extra forms on my mundane bank accounts in Canada (where my sons live, so eases transfer of funds) and my RRSP. I can see that I am not the only one asking for this.

Also: I am the live-in caregiver for my mother, so none of the IRS or your categories below fit my housing situation. This will likely grow. Wow, what do homeless people put? Just askin'....

Just one thing...

I've used this software for years, and I love that it compares the prior years with the current return. This is great, because it reminds you what you done in prior years so you don't forget a deduction or credit. Just remember that you have to transfer the previous year's return when you start a new return. It won't let you do it later.
What's great about it: Best all around tax software
What's not so great: You can lose your tax history comparison data...
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

kIt would be nice if turbo tax had a worksheet form so I could gather all my data and put it in the correct order and that would allow me to work through turbo tax a little faster

while I used the Step-by-Step it seemed to miss certain items I was looking for out of the questions. Needed to load certain IRS forms on my own. But overall I could not have completed my taxes without TurboTax. As the tax laws become more obscure and more difficult to comprehend (I have a PhD....just not in tax law) I will rely on TurboTax more and more in future years.
What's great about it: computer-based, used for years
What's not so great: as the tax law gets more convoluted, so does the software
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

This program lacks explanations and helps in many areas. Leaves you to hunt in various locations. Does not prompt for explanation statements. I fill them out because I know they are required but I have to look them up in forms mode.
What's great about it: Saves a lot of time on calculations.
What's not so great: Doesn't transfer much material from previous years to current return. Not sure why.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
