I have been using TT for several years now. Recently I have started using personal premier along with business. I have an S-corp and it makes tax prep and filing so much easier now. the business generates k-1 that can be input in the personal tax and that;s it, it's all done. Excellent product. Highly recommend.
What's great about it: Easy, Fast and Accurate
What's not so great: None

I have tried other do it yourself programs, by far, TurboTax is the easiest to use. I used to use a CPA to do my return because of all the stock trading I do. There was little difference from what my CPA got back for me vs what TurboTax gets for me, the savings using TurboTax is a no-brainer.
What's great about it: I like how it holds your hand through the process.
What's not so great: I trade stocks, wading through the LLCs/Foreign sales takes a little guessing to get the right info on the form.

Keeping my blood pressure steady
on October 8, 2015

Turbo Tax has become a tax essential for me. It enables me to keep my information in order and readily accessible. Your access to a live tax professional keeps my blood pressure in check, knowing Turbo Tax keeps up with the multitude of tax changes yearly. The ability to transfer data from previous years facilitates that all items are reviewed since much of this data is only accessed for tax purposes.
What's great about it: Access to real live pros to resolve tax issues
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I was using TurboTax 14 with my new Windows 10 laptop. TT would not install updates. I tried several times. I entered the info but could not submit until updates were installed. After a week of searching I finally located customer service number. Tech helped and said info I needed would have been impossible to locate online. You should make it easier to locate customer service number.
Another issue is questions are not detailed enough with one tax form. I have to enter info directly on form in order for taxes to be completed correctly. I did not realize that in prior years so having to file ammendments.
What's great about it: Interactive..makes it easy
What's not so great: Most negative thing is difficutly in finding phone number for tech support
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It works
on October 8, 2015

It works as intended, but if you have any complexity in the return, you still really need to understand the tax code to be sure you enter data correctly and get the result you should. There are just too many ways to misinterpret the instructions. But it's better than the alternative. Learning curve can be frustrating. There are a number of useful features that take a while to appreciate and use effectively and you forget by next year. They should publish a crib sheet for the features.
What's great about it: Ability to electronically import 1099s and w-2s is enormous time saver.
What's not so great: Like any software, it takes time to get the hang of the features and by then you're done for the year and forget by next

Major problem with deleting fully amortized asset
on October 8, 2015
Posted by: Piperbc
I've been using this for about 8 years and have numerous rental properties. It even helped me through two sales. However, I believe there is a problem in the software. it occurred twice and I lost 3 completed forms. It's when deleting a fully amortized asset off of rental property. System locked, error message from Intuit, re entered data, and it happened again. I just left expired assets included in the list. So be cautious.
What's great about it: Excellent coaching through the forms
What's not so great: Panic attack when pages were dropped

Using now for 8 years. Great Great product.

After filing I copy the actual file to a test file, and do some calculations and what-ifs in the test file to see what would happen next year. I make changes to the test file based on what I see going on during the year, and plan accordingly.
What's great about it: Has every form that I have ever needed
What's not so great: Would love to import from Excel file. Does not currently allow it
