Not sure about the state return.

Seems to be harder than previous years. Our accountant took a while with our Business return, so we filed an extension for the Federal, didn't realize had to do a separate one for the state. Always used Turbo Tax but may have to let accountant do personal one also. Always seemed that by the time I got all the info together it was just as easy to do it myself.
What's great about it: It's OK. I might let my accountant do it next year.
What's not so great: Never told that had to do a separate extension for State. Hope it doesn't cause problems.

Using PDF

With XP operating software, I can't print the PDF Tax file. I will be forced to buy a new computer just for that one feature. Last year my computer did print the file.
What's great about it: Easy to use except for printing
What's not so great: Older Operating Systems can't use Adobe Reader PDF print

This con comment was something showing up for years 2013 and 2014 for sure. I have used your program for years.
Also, in the past the deluxe tax program did not require
purchasing extra programs to cover capital gains and
schedule E (i believe for K-1s.

What's great about it: Handles all tax matter..
What's not so great: Your estimated tax forms used to have amounts and names.

Easy and thorough

The program is easy, friendly, detailed, and all you have to do is collect your documentation and enter the information.
What's great about it: You can do your files with as much help as you prefer to have.
What's not so great: Each state costs a lot more to purchase.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

I've been using TurboTax for a very long time. I've seen many improvements over the years that have helped us do our taxes for easily. We've been using it for so long now that we don't know any other to prepare our tax returns.
What's great about it: You take me through everything, step by step. But I can also pick annd choose individual items to look at.
What's not so great: There seemed to be a problem with the state tax part of the program. I kept repeating "let's finish your taxes first."

Still better than pencil and paper!

For years, I did my income taxes with pencil and paper. A few years ago I started using TurboTax, because I was tired of filling out page after page of Schedule D investment info, and liked the ability to easily import the data.
Unfortunately, the program runs EXTREMELY slowly at times, even with nothing else running on my computer. I also find it almost impossible to find explanations when I'm not sure how something should be entered - and I've had this difficulty year after year.
Finding / changing an entry can be difficult as well. I tried to find how / where to apply a part of this year's refund to my estimated taxes for next year.... while I can find where it is on my (filled in) forms, I can't find anywhere to actually split my refund into part refund, part payment of this year's taxes. Finally gave up (after about a 10 minutes search) and just filed with all my overpayment as a refund.
What's great about it: Easy fill-in-the-blank for most things
What's not so great: Very slow at times. Pretty much impossible to find help with questions.

Excellent product

A trust worthy software that I have been using for over 26 years. I use QuickBooks as another great product made by Intuit. All my finances are handled with Intuit products. Great company.
What's great about it: Easy to handle all the elaborated forms in a semi complicated return
What's not so great: Could not find one in over 26 years using it

Acceptable but shortcomings & errors

I have several (more than desirable) comments which I submitted specific sections in TT. One of the biggest challenges is that when doing a search in Help, multiple words are handled as an 'OR' search. Hence the list of results is nearly unusable since there are so many (try: amortize tax exempt bond). Also, information is not included in a return without an easy way to find out why (e.g. not including a Schedule B event though the various 'messages' say that documenting tax exempt bond amortization is required (that info would be posted on Schedule B) but since taxable interest is less than a threshold ($1,500, I think) then Schedule B is not included.
What's great about it: The steps follow a reasonable process and sequence
What's not so great: Errors in the system; examples appear old and are incomplete
