good tax software

enjoy using turbotax.
enjoy using turbotax.
What's great about it: easy to use.
What's not so great: found errors in the sale of stock worksheets when error checking was run.

Rocked My Refund

I have been using Turbo Tax for over twenty years. It is always my first choice. This year, i almost switched. My frustration was the changes from the different versions. I have a basic return, and have always purchased the same version. This year, I needed to upgrade to complete one of the sections! Intuit, you have a great thing here, the wheel wasn't broken, why fix it? People will buy it simply because your product is great and easy to use.
What's great about it: Simple, User Friendly, Thorough, Quick
What's not so great: Version changes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2014 return.. poor support

I have been preparing income tax returns for years in many countries, and up to 2012 your product was helpful.Since then in my opinion, it has become unfriendly and doesn't do what you claim it does. I liked it better when it was Parsons Tax preparer.
What's great about it: it provided the forms
What's not so great: Poor help and no transfer of last years standard data

Lack responsiveness

There appears to be a lack of action to known customer problems. Example:
Foreign Gov. pensions do not have federal payer ID numbers. The IRS allows filing of 4852 without an ID number. TT forces the user to use a 1099R worksheet and then refuses to allow e-filing because there is no ID number. There were many questions on the Help forum but no input from TT on how to get around the software problem. I personally spoke with the IRS for my 2913 return. They advised me to put 99-9999999 as the ID number. Last year that worked in TT. However this no such luck. Once again many users were looking for resolution. Still the 1099R forms were incorrect, same problem. Some users eventually managed to make it work, but other not. In the end I had to show it a miscellaneous income. A bad work around. The instructions for the 1099R do not correspond to the current form regarding foreign addresses. also no comment on no IDs being available.

Complex made easy!

Turbo tax doesn't save me hours, you saved me days!
What's great about it: Covered every base I needed to adddress.
What's not so great: How could you NOT love everything about it.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Harder every year

I have reached a tentative conclusion that it is easier/faster to file manually than having to go through all of the steps required in TurboTax to complete schedules A, C, and E.
I know I can't really blame TurboTax. The source of the problem is the ridiculous tax laws enacted by the U.S. Congress. Our country needs some serious tax simplification.
What's great about it: it's nice to have someone else doing the math, etc
What's not so great: It just gets more and more complicated
