TTax good . . . IRS bad . . .

Well yes, Turbo Tax is good, I'll even go as far as VERY good. I've been using it since around 1987. If it wasn't good, I'd still be using a pencil & my pocket calculator.
However, everytime I do my taxes I feel like a condemned guy that's been brought before a firing squad and ordered to load the rifles.
What's great about it: Much easier than the alternative . . .
What's not so great: Part of an intrinsically corrupt political system

problem with presentation of margin interest deduc

For 2013 return I was given option of using margin interest against interest income and carrying over balance to 2014 or using margin interest against interest AND dividend income. However in 2014 this option was not clearly presented or explained. If I hadn't done it in 2013 I probably would have missed it for 2014.
For me it was the difference in paying over $4000 to IRS vs only paying $915.
What's not so great: it was not clear

What's great about it: MOSTLY EASY TO UNDERSTAND
What's not so great: SOME HELPS SEEM LIKE A SHOT IN THE DARK - HARD TO FOLLOW, UNDERSTAND, SOMETIMES INCOMPLETE IN INFORMATION.

What's great about it: First time user, it was fairly easy to use. If all works out will be back next year and it should go even faster.
What's not so great: Trying to continuosly sell me more services and high cost to file state return

Somewhat Difficult

I really struggled with stock transactions this year. In prior years I was walked through all of the details of different stock transactions. This year they were all originally put in as a regular stock transaction and I had to search for a way to designate an RSU, NQSO and ESPP transaction. I am not sure what changed but it really took me a lot longer to do my taxes this year with Turbo Tax compared to the last 15 or so years. I have to admit I was frustrated.
What's great about it: years past I have found Turbo Tax to be easy to enter ESPP, RSU and NQSO transactions but this year was difficult
What's not so great: I had to really search for information and the guide was not helpful with stock transactions

What's great about it: complete, easy. gives me confidence it's been done right
What's not so great: couldn't print tax summary and history
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
