Have loved TurboTax for years- makes me feel like a professional! This year I didn't feel that the carryover information was as seamless as in years past. I felt like I had to enter information that previously would have been automatic, and that there was a lack of recognition regarding some of my assets. I am by no means an expert, just giving my 2 cents.

Could be better after so many years

I don't sit down and do my taxes all at once, it takes a couple of weeks. I have to come back to items after I dig up the documentation or go through bank records. It is hard to find some areas again when you come back.
The help files are also poor. I find what I need half the time and the other half I have to search the internet.
What's great about it: Somewhat easier to file than on your own
What's not so great: Hard to find items after you have passed them and help is poor

TurboTax for Dummies

TurboTax is great if you are not a professional and don't want to spend half your life doing taxes. I can usually get my taxes done in under 3 hrs (working slowly and carefully) including the e-File.
It is so simple that I almost think I am missing something.
What's great about it: Walks you right through th entire process
What's not so great: None really

Electronic Filing FAILED!!!

here we sit a couple hours away from deadline trying to fix the infamous "Your transmission didn't go through" Tried all the tricks. None worked! What a joke! Filing by paper now

Paid for e-file, but forced to mail it in

I used TurboTax Premier for the 2014 tax year instead of deluxe like in 2013.
This year my tax situation was simpler than last, but for what ever reason I was rejected half a dozen times with the following error "E-file rejection errors IND-031-01 or IND-032-01: The e-filing PIN or prior year AGI does not match"
The pin and AGI were correct (checked multiple times and went to the IRS site to verify both my AGI and my wifes).
In the end I had to print out 48 pages and pay for postage in addition to the fees to Audit Defense and efile.
I'm very disappointed with TurboTax after more than a decade of using the product.
What's great about it: detailed as always
What's not so great: no matter what I tried my file was rejected

Back after 15 years.

Last time I used Turbo Tax was about 15 years ago. My wife filed for us, using Turbo Tax, the last 15 years until her death this year. The changes are wonderful, the ease of entry and questions that provide guidance have become specific, accurate, and easy to understand. Filing is amazing, basically push button. I remember having to wait until receiving a response, continually checking and sometimes having the submittal disappear. Yesterday, I did have a rejection due to EIN number being wrong. I would like to see the import process made easier. I started to use it, but backed off when seeing the items needed to utilize the import.
What's great about it: Questions and guidance is excellent providing the "Why's" and "How"
What's not so great: Importing needs to be encouraged and made easier.
