This is a great program.

I have always like the easy instructions with Turbo Tax program. It has never failed me. As I said earlier I bought the Turbo Tax for home. But when I got to the 1099-B. I had to pay almost as much as I did the the home version.
What's great about it: The easy to follow instructions
What's not so great: That I had to pay extra for the Deluxe version because of 1099-B
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy to use; however, some forms need explanation

Especially for schedules and calculations, Turbo Tax needs to have more specific directions for those of us who haven't completed those particular schedules in the past (such as casualty info needed and what it is really asking you to enter). Please add a better explanation for these types of schedules that tells the user more of what really needs to go in that box on that particular line and that another schedule or worksheet must be used for each separate occurrence, if that is the case.
What's great about it: Entry is simple and review at end is GREAT!
What's not so great: If you don't understand or access IRS docs, you may enter info incorrectly on some schedules
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Disappointed

After performing an analysis of my state return, when I click "Let's finish it," I am bounced back to the beginning of the State Taxes tab and stuck in a perpetual loop. The only way to proceed is to click the 'skip it' option, so I was never stepped through the analysis of my state taxes. Fingers crossed that it got it right the first time.
Separately, but remotely possibly related, it would not allow me to pay off the feds and make payment arrangements for the state. It told me I had selected to make a direct deposit payment to the state, which I don't recall being prompted to do, and never had the option to change it. I had to trick the system by checking that I would mail in a payment and then make payment arrangements with the state directly.
All excruciatingly frustrating, and why I've been (over) paying a CPA to do this up until now. I had hoped Intuit would have gotten this dialed in by now.
What's great about it: uses everyday language to make it easy to step through
What's not so great: disappointingly flawed

Taxes Made Easy
on April 15, 2015

I have an old PC with XP that I use only to file taxes with Turbo Tax that I install from Media; it is old & slow (like me). for some reason this year, it initially wouldn't download anything -- updates, Premier, State, or Financial Institution.
After trying to ensure Norton 365 wasn't blocking these sites, Norton finally forced a PC restart, and TT started to download all needed software and info. As TT is SO dependent on Internet connectivity with TT & other Servers, perhap including a diagnostic test, or a test site might prove useful.
I did call the 1-800 line prior to resolution, and the were VERY helpful in giving me a Serial Number for a State Download, but I ended up not needing it.
I don't mind paying taxes as my portion of living in the US, but I HATE how complicated IRS has made the process -- but TT makes it much more palitable, still not fun, but much easier to complete the task.

What's great about it: The step-by-step instructions with help; and BY FAR the capability to download Financial Companies & auto fill app forms
What's not so great: Initially blocked from download, poss due to Norton 365-took 2 days to resolve
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Gee, I Made It!

It's a great product that saved me from having to spend big dollars to have someone else do my taxes.
What's great about it: The session was thorough, covering all the bases.
What's not so great: The session seemed quite long. Questions were not simple, requiring me to stay focus or else frequently redo.

Fairly Solid

Overall, we enjoy using TurboTax to file our taxes and find it easy to use. I wish it did a slightly better job of explaining why the money we owe or receive for a refund changes from year to year.
What's great about it: Easy to use and quick
What's not so great: Some things are confusing and not explained very well
Pros: I bought or sold investments
