Disappointed

I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years and have always been satisfied. Over the last two years however, TurboTax has changed several key elements including what is included in the different packages. This year I bought the Deluxe as I always do only to find when it came tax prep time that the State was not included even though I paid as much for this Deluxe as I normally pay for Deluxe which has always included the State return as well.
Several things are no longer available in Deluxe that were included before and it is disappointing to say the least. It seems that you are simply forcing people to upgrade and pay a higher price to be able to do the same things. Next year I may use one of the other tax preparation software.

Long Time User

I've used the product for over 10 years. I have a somewhat complex return and have found that TurboTax is well thought out and makes it easier and quicker for me to file. My information comes in over a two month period. Turbo Tax allows me to work on the return piecemeal and I never have to wonder if I've missed something.
What's great about it: Well organized. Makes tax time tolerable.

reinventing the wheel

why must we reinvent the wheel ? The info was on the federal forms but not used.......
It was xxxx out in state. When I tried to copy and paste, it would not allow that - had to retype

Turbotax Premier was needed for rental property we own. It was easy to use and asked all the right questions. I would buy it again.
What's great about it: easy to understand

Free State filing
I wish State filing was free. Who gets that money ?

Double-sided printer
Being able to specify I have a double-sided printer would be
nice. Forms could be printed double-sided and the next
form would start on the next "front" page.

Form 1116
Flow on Form 1116 did not seem to work correctly at first.
Started in step-by-step and calcs were wrong.
Try to fix by hand, no flow in form.
Started over in step-by-step and it suddenly worked.
It also cleared overrides made trying to fix it.
Frustrating. Not sure if my problem or yours.

I wish I could select and copy text. Easier to search TTax and

What if calculator
I often want to know the benefit of a deduction or the effective
rate it saves at. I now have to note the tax/refund when a
deduction is in, then remove $1000, for example, to see
what change happens in both Fed and State.
Having a worksheet that keeps
track of those numbers so I don't have to note them elsewhere
is something I have wanted for many years.

This is the first time we've used Turbo Tax. It was so much easier than I expected! We will use Turbo Tax from here on out. Thanks for a great product!

Real Mixed Bag

I have been an enthusiastic user for more than ten years but my expectations were definitely not met this year. the password and perhaps encryption part of security don't seem to be well-designed. For example, I associated a password with my file last year. But I could import that data into this year's return without entering the password. When I tried to continue this year's return, the program often took me back to the beginning (to start a return) instead of asking me to log in and continue. Why not give users a few basic facts about security either initially upon use or in a brochure.? Very frustrating to "discover" these one by one. Any company can be hacked - these security issues are ones you have complete control over.
What's great about it: Interview format remains good
What's not so great: Some no-brainers missed. lots of problems with continuing where I last stopped.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
