Had a bit more difficulties this season than in the past and needed to contact the support staff. What a God send! The staff were so nice and patient with me. Beautiful people.

What's great about it: So easy to use and takes most of the stress out of tax time. Plenty of explanation boxes to make sections clearer.
What's not so great: Some abbreviations were difficult to figure out(FMV). So it took longer than it should have to complete some sections.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

printing/editing

Too little info on what to print for records. Ended up using over a ream of paper.
Also, had trouble with some editing - Had to delete item and reinsert in order to edit.
Some instructions are unclear. Please use terminology shown on 1099"s and tax forms rather than alternative terminology that we might not understand. Remember the adage "KISS".
Sure beats preparation by hand. Been using TT for many years,and trust it 98% - wouldn't use any other. Saves $$$ on a tax accountant, and they don't do any better, if as well - you still have to do all the scut work.

I did my taxes first with the premier update and then my daughter's taxes. I found some changes in the Step by Step I didn't like. Some of the explanations were just not extensive enough ie. should explain more about the reason for the health information questions.
The Help Center was very poor. It should have been called Q&A since it was based on customer inputs which were not always right and mostly not to the point.

My advice would be to use the simplest version of TurboTax for you needs.
What's great about it: Walking through the steps myself

TurboTax Met My High Expectations -- Again

I have always been a TurboTax fan! I have prided myself in doing my own taxes since 1966. I used to spend hour upon hour each year in IRS Pub 17 and other pubs, pouring through them to find the correct information on how to handle the purchase and sale of the six homes my wife and I have owned across the US, how to handle the rental and eventual sale of two of them when I couldn't sell them right away, how to handle investment income and sales, how to handle losses, etc.
I started using TurboTax in 1997 (tax year 96) and seldom has it not answered all of my questions and covered all of my circumstances in the last 19 years. Goodbye Pub 17! This year was no exception. Having turned 70 1/2 last year, I had to start taking RMDs from my traditional IRA. Some of the distributions I had sent directly to my church, and I was afraid I would have to dust off Pub 17 to see how to handle it. To my delight, TurboTax walked me right through it.
I also appreciate the fact that I can download all of my investment transactions directly from my investment management company -- what a time saver!
I have never experienced any problems with TurboTax. Thanks for making it available for those of us who do our own taxes!

I have used Turbo Tax for the last 5 years and enjoy the upgrades to the product. Also, I like the support information provided to include current Tax Law information.
