Navigation thru the program was terrible. I have used ttax for years 10 +. Will be looking at other products next year

Most information and forms easily handled.
More difficult to enter state sales tax. Had to go to the forum to figure it out. Not intuitive/user friendly.
Personal info - had to actually open the form to edit information on contact information.
What's great about it: easy fill in, most questions covered
What's not so great: Personal info more difficult
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax came thru again...!

Have used TurboTax for 10-15 years. Twice I lived in multiple states, so hired a tax specialist to double check things after I filed just to be sure... but each time it was fine.
What's great about it: Easy to follow menu and flexibility to go step-by-step or navigate at will
What's not so great: Q&A features worked fine, but sometimes gave me more detail than I needed

Straightforward Tax Prep

Have used TT since mid-90s and rely on it to do a good job. It has generally been quite effective. And it has gotten better about avoiding becoming stuck in loops and allowing rapid fixes to worksheets.

Thorough, but a little harder to use

Still an incredibly excellent program! Very helpful and so thorough that one has confidence that things are correct!
I found it harder to amend or correct things than in the past. This was due to sometimes getting taken thru questions already answered in a previous session, other times not being able to find the question I wanted to change an answer to, and not having as much choice to go to a specific area as in the past.
Also, sometimes a decision was made for me, e.g., my state return was forced into being an "amended" return, and I didn't know why and couldn't find anywhere to try and find out why.
I found it harder to amend or correct things than in the past. I've used this program for over 20 years !! This was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Probably will not ever use again i'll use others!!!
What's great about it: NONE!!!
What's not so great: worst experience i've had with this program!!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TT since DOS. Always gets easier. Too bad the official forms don't get easier also...
What's great about it: Can itemize using a table to break out the components of a single box total

Better support for handling interest from foreign banks, such as, finding the best alternative for handling foreign tax paid and recommending it.
More generally, an ability to look at comparative results when alternative ways of accounting are possible.
