This was much easier than an Accountant

I have found over the years that as a commodity trader my accountant didn't quite understand all the nuances of my taxes. I have tested the return against the $500 or so that I have paid in the past and there is no difference in the outcome. My taxes are straight up no hiding or fudging because everything I do is reported. So this is the best route I have come up with to do my taxes.
What's great about it: I could do it at home and it was easier to understand
What's not so great: some of the more complicated things need to be explained
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Made it easy

I have used Turbo Tax for 14 years. I like how the continuity and familiar interface. I almost bailed this year when intuit removed a form I needed from the deluxe version to promote an upgrade to premiere. I'm glad they made good on that but I lost some trust.
What's great about it: Updated, fast, brings information from previous years
What's not so great: Should not have removed forms from deluxe to promote upgrade

E-Filing
on April 15, 2015

I make a minimal amount of money in another state which requires you to e-file. I don't file for the other state, but Turbo Tax won't let me choose which state to e-file. I end up having to mail my resident state instead of being able to e-file. Not happy about it.
What's great about it: Very easy to understand and file.
What's not so great: Wouldn't let me choose which state to e-file

What's great about it: Easy to use as usual. The It's Deductible feature is worth the entire price of the program.
What's not so great: Some questions don't get answered, but overall not an issue.

It's Even Better the Second . . . and Third Time

Turbo Tax gets better with age. It imports all your data from the previous year and this helps gets the job done quicker (no looking up addresses, etc.) and better (helps me ensure that I don't inadvertently miss any areas).
Easy to use; gets easier each year.
What's great about it: Data Importing Minimizes Time and Increases Efficiency
Pros: I bought or sold investments
