Prettty Easy To Use
on April 15, 2015

I would like you to:
- allow a "note to self" to be attached to any data entry page. This would remind me to change something
- allow spelling change to organizations donated to. As is, I have to delete the entire entry to fix a typographical error
- For screens that are mostly empty or where all data is entered towards the left or middle, put the Continue/Next button in the center of its row instead of all the way to the right.
- I'm into the FILE section and have no idea where I enter info about paying my tax bill by direct withdrawal from my bank account.
- In the Answer Exchange, I queried "Where do I deduct my safety deposit box expense?" The response by TurboTaxLorieS was to "enter the expense for these fees under Deductions and Credits > Misc. Expenses." I'm using
TT Premier for 2014 and there is no Misc. Expenses field on the D&C page. Then I entered it under Other Deductible Expenses which said it was not deductible because of the 2% rule. TurboTaxHeatherW1 said to enter it under D&C Retirement & Investments which worked without error messages.
What's great about it: makes sure I enter all data. phone people very helpful.
What's not so great: See my review notes

Easy with Quicken and Previous Turbo Tax
on April 15, 2015

When using Turbo Tax previously, I have setup custom reports where I just change the date range to last year, and run reports on business and medical expenses. So easy! Love the EFile, been using it for years!
What's great about it: Easy to import data from previous versions, and using categories to import data.
What's not so great: Some of the explanations are a bit cryptic

Five-figure refund was TurboTax mistake!
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: SashaBV
My faith in TurboTax was severely shaken this year when, as noted in the Cons snapshot, the program showed we had a 5-figure state refund and we had to manually override data to get our 4-figure state tax due! Others have had this problem with the TurboTax Hawaii State Tax too. The worst of it is, when you do have faith in TurboTax you are liable to believe them and submit the crazy numbers. Otherwise it is so convenient, and they have cut back on some of the waste, like the annoying videos. I still would like to be able to go back and forth between EasyStep and Forms without losing my place. Also, what a surprise when e-filing to find it registered in Pacific Time, 3 hours later than Hawaii Time! I'm glad I didn't leave it til after 9pm!
What's great about it: Transfer of past data, changes automatically propagated through return, confusing forms done for you
What's not so great: TurboTax said we had a 5-figure state refund; we had to manually override to get our 4-figure tax due!

Very easy to move forward and backwards as I'm working on my Fed and State component. Would be go to be able to go back and forth from City to State just as easy.
What's great about it: Seemes easier to navigate
What's not so great: difficulty going back to look at city information
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Very good product. Glad they included the investment and rental in the deluxe version for free.
when asked on how to get your Refund options given,
1. Electronic into A/C
2. Mail
Should also have option to apply to next years taxes. did not have the question asked while doing the taxes nor is there an option.
In all good value for the product
What's great about it: Walks you through various tax options
