Carryovers?
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: calgiddy
First, I really like TurboTax. I started with MacInTax a billion years ago and I've used it ever since.
I'd like to see more treatment of carryovers. The program tells me to enter any carryovers I have from previous years. Why doesn't it tell me what they are? Or, if I don't have any, why doesn't it tell me that?
What's great about it: Easy to use. Multi-mode--many ways to slice and dice tax prep.
What's not so great: I'd like more on carryovers.

Helpful, But Unpleasant Surprise
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: Corby2
The product continues to give me good results with clear explanations of what I need (generally). I am pleased with the end result, However, when I was charged for my free state e-file, I was not happy. Turned out it was only good until February 16th (obviously I had not paid attention to the fine print). Some of my investment information arrived late, so this is not a good option anymore. Too bad.
What's great about it: thorough, covering all the points I needed
What's not so great: difficult to remove areas I should not have tried
Pros: I bought or sold investments

smooth tax filing
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: pradeepd
This year was as good as the previous years. importing tax forms from financial institutions was a breeze. except for a glitch on some of the imports from etrade, where the cost basis was set as 0 and I had to correct them, everything came in easily.
The overall tax filing time was less than couple of hours and the whole process was very easy.
thanks,
-Pradeep.
What's great about it: almost pain free tax filing, step by step guidance, good explanations
What's not so great: some of the imports had to be edited for cost basis
Pros: I bought or sold investments

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: TuboTax easy too use.
What's not so great: The review program is very bad as it would not accept normal nicknames.

No EFTPS payment method
on April 15, 2015

Turbo Tax does not provide a check box to indicate that we made our final ax payment through the EFTPS system. We are now required to MAIL a Form 1040-V Payment Voucher to the IRS!

Nearly Great
on April 15, 2015

I am a Federal retiree. It kept treating my pension 1099R from OPM as if it were a regular 1099R from an IRA by demanding to know if I had taken my RMD - Required Minimum Distribution. There is no RMD when receiving a government pension.
There are numerous pop-up forms to fill in various information. They are quirky at best. Many refused to load fully requiring several attempts. Some required program shutdown and reopen. e.g.: I couldn't efile my state return because the credit card popup would not work.
What's great about it: Great interaction - true to TurboTax I have used for 20+ years.
What's not so great: Pop-up forms repeatedly failed to load. Strange use of CSA 1099R

Very frustration
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: dghowson
Turbo Tax crashed many times while working on my returns. Also it did not file my state return electronically along with my Federal. When I try to go back to do it, a message box pops up and says I can file my State return electronically later, but it will not let me do it. All I get is that stupid message box.
What's not so great: On line Help is useless

Way to go!
on April 15, 2015
Posted by: King1429
I have been using Turbo Tax now for several years and I am completely satisfied. The program is extremely user friendly. If you have a question, help is just a click away. All you have to do is save all your receipts throughout the year and filing your taxes is a breeze. Turbo Tax covers EVERY area of taxation that could apply to you. Why have a service prepare your taxes when it is SO EASY. In my opinion Turbo Tax is the Way to go!
What's great about it: Very user friendly
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
