this year was different....

I have always loved TurboTax, because it is easy to use and covers absolutely everything. I especially love the "step me through it" feature - it makes sure you don't overlook anything. However, this year it failed me. I was unable to use it to do my state taxes. I paid for my state download - twice - but whenever I then downloaded the state file Tubotax went into an endless loop. Apparently it was a recognized problem, because there was a "fix" listed in their Help files, but the fix was so complex it was WAY to difficult to do. Plus, the first time I calculated my federal tax using TurboTax this year, the amount it said I owed was suspiciously high, so I did the investment download over again, and the amount went down by 50%. I examined the investment 1099, and the total change was $32. Hmmm. TurboTax, I trusted you so much until this year!!
What's great about it: Thorough and easy to use
What's not so great: was not reliable this year

Fine Software

Flawlessly accurate in its calculations. Does terrific job importing data so rekeying is minimized. Very helpful and smooth running.
What's great about it: Accutate, helpful, smooth, & great at importing
What's not so great: Interview on Long Term Care income needs to be improved.

Filing as a Non-Resident

I hated using TurboTax this year. We moved overseas and are working for the Federal Gov't, so it was difficult to find the California Non-Resident (540NR) form. It's super easy to find on TaxAct, which I'll probably use next year b/c you have made it so difficult to enter information if I live overseas but still own a house in California.
Also, my bank messed up my 1099-R by stating my mailing address, not permanent address, which affects box 14 on the 1099-R, and I wanted to include a note to the IRS to fix it, but I could not figure out how to write a note to the IRS stating that the info on my 1099-R was incorrect. TurboTax has totally gone down in quality. I'm so disappointed.
What's great about it: imports info from previous years
What's not so great: very difficult to find forms for non-resident or if we reside overseas
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

have used TT for 10 years, no complaints, walks you through all the scenarios commensurate with the changes in your tax life as your income changes. no cons from my perspective.

Very happy with Turbo Tax and have used for more than 10 years.
What's great about it: Fast and well explained questioning. very thorough and in depth
What's not so great: Final steps of printing or saving as PDF were a bit confusing

TurboTax is Great!

I have used Turbotax for about 20 years very successfully! The "Guided Prep" is very clear and complete. Only one error over the years and it was mine. No audits.
What's great about it: Have used TT for at least 20 yr. Very satisfied

I was disappointed that I had to upgrade my Turbo Tax from last year and had to pay to complete a state. Too many upcharges this year. Will reconsider next year.

Used TurboTax Again

Used TurboTax again this year. Have used it for many years and continue to find it easy to use and navigate. It guides me through all the necessary forms and prompts me for the information I need to enter. I'm sure I'll be using it again next year!
What's great about it: I like the ease of use
What's not so great: I wish some of the info was more easily accessible
