Great product, I wish I can have more than one state for free
What's great about it: very easy to use- I like the guided feature
What's not so great: hard to review errors and sometimes cannot get back to steps I have skiped
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What's great about it: If your returns are simple - ZOOM!
What's not so great: Once working with the schedules/deductions, it gets dicey.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

The Turbo Tax product is good, however, I was caught off guard this year when I was required to upgrade to the Premier tax product from the Basic. It made the cost much more expensive and I felt that the information was not straightforward on the website as to what changes had been made to the products from previous years. I will look into alternative tax preparation products for next year.
What's great about it: Technically sound and easy to use program.
What's not so great: Forced to upgrade to Premier from Basic even though tax situation did not change. Expensive!!

While usually I am very pleased with the TurboTax product, this year's version caused a bit of frustration. In the many years I have been using TurboTax, I've never had a problem paying for in-program purchases. This year's version, the in-program purchase for additional state, and for electronic filing, simply refused to connect. And while there is a designed in work-around for this problem, thankfully, that provision makes it seem the program expected there to be a problem.
What's great about it: Easy to use, like the step by step interface so I don't miss anything
What's not so great: Unable to access payment site to purchase additional state and to file.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Almost for the layman

I have been using this software almost continuously since the 90's and overall the product has improved quite a bit. There are still a few areas that needs attention like some of the checks and balances routines. I have tried their competitor's products but switched back since I am used to their "flow" and also because their competitors can't fully import all of TT's prior years data. Due to the cost of this software compared to their competitors if the importing issue is resolved I have no problem switching over since I will be saving upwards of 50%. But until then I will have to stick to TT.
What's great about it: Step by Step process
What's not so great: Still too much "legalese"
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

2014 TT review

Not enough explanation as to why certain categories are required. Form 1116 seems to have little expiation as to why errors may be present. This category of explaining other tax credits lack explanation support. Error reporting needs a clearer explanation on how to fix.
Overall though program is still quite reliable and I will continue to use Turbo Tax. User for more than 15 years. BTW- children are adults i.e. grown so question below is a bit misleading.
What's great about it: Thorough forms that connect well with each other
What's not so great: Lack of direct explanation where some entries originate from.
