Tax Preparation Made Easy

TurboTax makes preparing tax returns a lot less painful! For several sections, it gives you the option of allowing it to walk you through a section by asking you key questions; or you if you're familiar with that section, you may complete it quickly on your own. I have been using TurboTax for several years now. It's a great product.
What's great about it: Very easy to use.
What's not so great: It's not free:)

Excellent Tax Calculator Program

reliable year after year

I have used TurboTax for maybe 20 years or more. Initially I picked it based on superior reviews, but I have never been disappointed.
It is complex and complete, which I require, but I have never found it hard to use.
One can trust that Intuit will be on top of all the latest federal details and changes, and also that they will deal with the tribulations on the modern world, like this year's spurious filings hacks.

Didn't seem as good a product in 2014 (Premier)

On several occasions I found myself at a screen which asked for some input that was not intuitively clear, but there was no hypertext or further explanation of what was wanted. Sorry, I can't think of a specific example.
A second problem where I can be more specific. In calculating foreign dividend earnings, TT asked how much of the $XX of dividends was foreign. But $XX wasn't the figure for dividends on my 1099-DIV. After wasting a lot of time and calling your help line, I found out that $XX included some other non-dividend distributions. But nowhere was this explained, nor did the $XX figure appear on any of the worksheets. Why not have every figure you present to a user with an explanation of the source, e.g. by hovering over it with the mouse.
I don't recall ever having either of these problems in the past. I don't think you put as much care into the product this year. I'd usually rate it excellent, but this year no better than good.

Taxes made easy!

Another great year with TurboTax. Software worked great, and the import feature saves so much time. Filing is so easy with their electronic options. I will use this software again next year!
What's great about it: Easy to use & good online support documentation
What's not so great: Could use more inline comparison or reference options between last year and this year tax returns
